Best choice in its niche [Posted on 2007-05-06] I needed additional storage for a MacBook Pro for my media (photos, iTunes, movies, etc). Because of bus-power, small size & light weight (unlike the orange rubber rugged style), I could stick this to the outside of the MBP with a velcro spot, and it looks ok. Everything works great and having both USB and FW is very useful (for mac).
I give it only four stars because I really wanted a 7200rpm drive, which doesn't seem to be available in the small format. (That's probably not quite fair of me...but I still want it).
Perfect for on-the-go big file transfer [Posted on 2007-06-08] I needed this drive to transport huge files between home and work between two operating systems, Mac OS X and Windows XP. This drive is perfect! USB connection for the Windows hookup and Firewire for the Mac hookup. The item is also "POCKET-SIZE" with no power adapter. Just plug & play. No more lugging around huge 3 1/2 hd drives and all those cables.
Amazing piece of hardware [Posted on 2007-10-29] This Hd works by using the USB cable (single port and not double port known as Y cable). No need for power. I tried it on my MacBookPro 17". Extremely small HD, and seems to work fine. very good buy! Go for it. Specially it got another port (fire wire), so in case one of the ports fail you still have access to your info. I would definitely recommend it.
Looks nice though. [Posted on 2007-12-12] I have purchased half a dozen of the firewire-only version of this enclosure, loaded with 7200RPM drives for use in my recording studio. I have had thermal drive failures in nearly half of them. This enclosure does not do enough to dissipate heat under moderate to heavy use. If you value your data, I can't recommend this unit.
