This was my first purchase of an mp3 player and I am not disappointed. [Posted on 2006-08-06] Wasn't sure what to expect but for the money I decided I couldn't lose. The product looks exactly like the picture except on the middle circle button there is the play/pause symbols. I also got the black one. I can't for the life of me figure out who really makes this thing. There are no manufacturing marks or symbols on it that would suggest who makes it. I've played with the iPods before and they certainly have easier to navigate menus but this one is fairly strait forward. The manual that comes with the product should provide a magnifying glass as it was pretty small print and really wasn't very helpful. The music quality is great. I like the FM radio option. I haven't downloaded any videos or pictures of my own but the few that come preinstalled worked great. I charged it overnight to get a good first charge and have had it playing for the last almost 4 hours and the battery meter hasn't budged yet. Not sure how long it will last on one charge yet however. Overall for the price I haven't been disappointed at all with the purchase of this player.
You Get What you Pay For [Posted on 2006-08-16] Where do I start? Sound quality is poor. The only movies it will pay are AMV, which is some obscure format that hardly anyone knows about. The manual says there is an AMV converter to play your movies on it but it is not on the CD. The AMV converter I downloaded for free does not format the video correctly, therefore, the video just stops playing or the sound is garbled. MP3 sound is noisy and unclear. They tried to do too much with this little player and none of it works well. The only good thing I can say is that it is inexpensive. I would only recommend this for a child as a toy and if they break or loose it, you're not out IPod type of dollars!
Three words: DO NOT BUY [Posted on 2006-10-26] I own one of these, but, fortunately, I did not buy it at this outrageous price. First of all, it's NOT an iPod Nano, just iPod Nano-sized. Therefore, it does not guarantee an Apple-like quality for videos, etc. It's sound quality sucked! The video quality sucked! And to add insult to injury, you can't change the earphones because its jacks are made specifically for the earphones provided! Second of all, it crashes easily. I bought mine (for US $5 in Hong Kong), and it broke after I loaded about ten songs on it. Also, after I uploaded a thirty minute lecture, it just crashed. It refused to reboot or restart. Thirdly, it doesn't play certain videos. Most of us have .avi and .mov, but this only accepts .mp4, so a conversion is required.
In conclusion, don't buy it. Save up for a real iPod nano or iRiver. Anything but this!
I'm not happy with this deal [Posted on 2007-01-09] The item arrived with display spoiled. It is impossible to set it.
I'm really upset with this item. I was the firt bad experience buying eletronic equipment through Amazon web site.
Got what I paid for. [Posted on 2007-11-28] Okay, so I got this thing because it was a super cheap alternative to the iPod - I even called it my "oPod" (off-brand iPod). I found, however, that I got what I paid for in this product. Though it sports a list of features including MP3, MP4 player, FM radio, games, etc, the firmware on this product is junk. The GUI (graphical user interface) is cluttered, slow, and not at all intuitive. Also, I think the programmer was from Hong Kong because the quality of the english both in the manual and in the program was very low.
I could've gotten over all of this but for one problem - The battery refuses to charge. I let it charge for several hours before use, as was recommended, but found when I turned it on the battery was only half charged. I did my best to use the manual to find out what was wrong and found that to charge it has to be turned on. So I tried again with the unit on this time, and after several hours it was still not charged.
On top of that, it uses a 1/16" jack instead of a standard 1/8" for headphones, meaning I had to use the amazingly low-quality buds it shipped with.
Long story short - DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS PRODUCT. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives to iPods, buy from a reputable brand.
