provides modest relief over standard, but there are better alternatives [Posted on 2008-01-24] This mouse provided some relief over a regular mouse. I think angling the hand in a more "pistol-grip" manner is more natural. However, after using it for awhile, I still developed strain because of the need to move the mouse around.
For me, having a stationary input device is the best. I have the Logitech TrackMan Wheel and I am loving it. It takes only a day to get used to. It is very fast and easy to use. I would recommend a trackball over this 3M mouse.
3M Ergonomic mouse [Posted on 2008-02-08] I bought the 3M ergonomic mouse because of excessive pain and swelling in my right index (mouse) finger for several weeks. Since using the mouse for about 3 weeks the pain is gone. The thumb mouse button is easy to use, but aiming and moving the mouse around on the page is harder to master. It can be done though with patience - but the first week is rough. So, if you can put up with the learning curve, you'll be glad you did.
Little funky.. would buy again [Posted on 2008-04-02] I have very small hands so I purchased the small/medium size. It isn't small enough, I can't use my my middle finger to click on the scroll button. I found with practice I was using my thumb instead. At first it hurt my hands in a new spot.. but still hurt. I found that by placing my hand in a little bit different way, I was able to use my thumb and have really gotten to love it. It is different and at first I couldn't do some things and was jumping back and forth with the regular mouse. Now it throws me to use the standard mouse. I'm packing my mine back and forth to work, waiting for my work ones to come in. Don't give up quickly like I almost did... keep trying and one day it will just hit you that... wow.. just have to have my joy stick mouse....
so so [Posted on 2008-04-18] It is ok for using a few hours, but using more than a few hours gives me some pain around my thumb..
Pain free mousing [Posted on 2008-04-29] I've tried several alternative mice and finally I have one that works well and doesn't cause tendonitis. It is easy to use it works well and it has the scrolling feature if you use it. It is optical and I find it works well as a laptop mouse and I can use the couch or my leg to run it over. I love this mouse.
