It would be a good product, if you could actually receive it [Posted on 2007-01-05] It actually deserves no stars. Our company, an American multinational corporation, bought this product for one of our departments in Brazil and never received valid installation codes in order to make it work. After a 30 day trial and training of all our users, we had to stop all work because the reseller for Latin America didn't offer any help and the developer showed no interest in hearing our complaints. This treatment for a product paid in full 15 days before the expiration of the trial period. Be prepared to face tremendous problems if you need support. Our last opinion is: good product for your home, if you can actually receive it. Not adequate for corporations, judging by their horrendous customer service, the worst I saw in my entire professional life.
ACT! by Sage, 2007 Workgroups [Posted on 2007-07-13] Do not buy this product. Do not buy this product. Do not buy this product. We're a global audit company that was using ACT 6.0 and getting along just fine, thank you, until our CEO decided to upgrade to 2007 Workgroups. NIGHTMARE. The conversion process took us 2 days and multiple calls to tech support. We're pretty computer savvy since we've set up our own servers and developed software for our market, but we couldn't maneuver easily through converting our databases from 6.0 to 2007. We lost all our tasks, 1/2 our phone numbers and countless hairs off my head. The new version doesn't support our printing labels and when I tried to convert the old ones over it wasn't correct. All my letters didn't convert, so I had to start from scratch there. Each of these things took hours. In 6.0, when you created a task list, it was in the order of the date you set the task for. AS IT SHOULD BE. In 2007, when you create a task list and then go to the contacts to go through them, it's in alphabetical order and YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT!! Thanks Sage, for putting out a truly crummy product.
I Use this Every Day - Only way to manage my bosses! [Posted on 2007-09-28] I started on ACT Premium 2006, and moving up to 2007 was the best thing - it functioned much more cleanly, and still gave me all the features I need. I manage scheduling for 6 different people, do initial sales, and really live in it as receptionist/office manager. It wasn't super easy to figure out on my own, I admit, but I was able to get training in an all day class, which really set me up to use it more efficiently.
I know people have made comments on it's speed, and compared to version 2004, it is slower, but it can do so much more! Also, I found exiting the program, and making sure to shut down my computer every night helped keep the program from being really buggy.
Anyhoo, hope this sheds a little perspective on ACT - I really love it. I can't wait til we move up to 2008 and get the dashboard and group functionality.
Premium is the way to go! [Posted on 2007-09-28] I've tried both Standard and Premium and Premium is definitely better! I use it all the time and I'm a remote user using synchronization. It's not flawless but you get so much for around $300!
This product is very good (2008 is much better) [Posted on 2007-09-28] We just upgraded from ACT2007 to ACT2008. We really liked ACT2007 (good Outlook integration, powerful customizability)--but we love ACT2008. The performance is better, and the new dashboards ACT2008 gives are fantastic. I can open ACT and go right to a dashboard that gives organization to my day/business. I read some of the other reviews and can't believe people have such a hard time with ACT2007--when it was so critical to our business over the past year. 4 stars for ACT2007--5 stars for ACT2008. It's absolutely worth the upgrade!
