I, like others, have had multiple problems with my UPS. After just over a year, the battery was useless and my entire system would power down without even a beep from the UPS. The Technical Support was awesome and diagnosed the problem over the phone; the issue required they ship a replacement. I got the replacement and I'm about 3 months into that and am experiencing the same problem as before. I know I got a rebuilt one, per the warranty.

The product is probably good. I give it 1-star due to Amazon's incorrectly displayed "In Stock" notice. I ordered this item on Monday, August 4 with 2-day delivery. When it didn't arrive by Friday, August 8, I checked my order and it wasn't due to ship until the 1st or 2nd week of Septemeber! That's hardly what I would call "in stock"! My son needed this item for college. I was livid.
RECEIVED USED/REPACKAGED/REFURBISHED??? [Posted on 2008-08-11]
This UPS was purchased to replace a dying UPS that I have had for many years. I was not aware that this was a used/refurbished item. There was no reference to this in the Amazon listing. The UPS I received was obviously not new. The actual battery was scratched, the box had been resealed and there was a list taped to the side showing results of QC testing. The 3 stars does not reflect on the quality of the UPS, only the condition as received.
I hooked it up anyway, and was glad I did. The very next night, we had an hour-long power outage and the UPS worked perfectly.

Well I should have known better...you have to be running a 15" iMac to get the "27 minutes" of runtime. I get about 3. That's without a monitor. Okay, I've got a pretty beefy tower with 3 hard drives, etc. but I expected a bit more. I will give it the PowerChute software performs well, allowing for a graceful shutdown of the machine. So it's marginal protection, very little runtime, but better than I had before.

This UPS works fine for me. We have finicky power in my building, but I seem to have enough time to log out and close anything important I am working on - sufficient for my business anyway. I have a 19" flat panel monitor and a mini tower desktop.
