Since version 6.5, each upgrade offers very little in terms of tools or enhancements. However what the motion graphics community can expect with each upgrade of AE, is a more crash-prone product. On a new workstation loaded with RAM, I've experienced sluggish performance, slower renders and a couple of crashes a day. Seems like a regular occurrence with other users as well.

Let's hope Apple makes their animation software (Motion) much more appealing in the months to come. It may inspire Adobe to make a better product again.

Entire CS3 family crashes [Posted on 2008-02-13]
Effects isn't the only Adobe product in the CS3 family that crashes. We are having issues with all of them. Photoshop which doesn't normally import huge files is now crashing our Mac G4. I'm running Sony's Vegas Video at home which has quite a few "effects" add-ons available from other vendors. If Adobe doesn't straighten this out maybe Sony will take up the slack.

I just purchased Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional used and abused the program without a hitch.. no crashing... an awesome program. I must add I'm running a PC 3.3 Ghz , SCSI HDs with 4 gigs of ram... I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 as well as PhotoShop CS3 extended edition. I acquired PhotoShop when I only had 1 gig of ram, it crashed several times until I upgraded to more ram. Haven't had an issue since the RAM upgrade

I have used this product as well as almost all the other CS3 Products and have not once experienced any crashes or what not and I use only PC computers. Never a Mac and have run it on my Home brew computer and a ASUS laptop and a cheap Dell computer and on all three I have not once experienced any problems. I have 2 gigs of ram on all three computers and all are AMD x2 400 to 4200+ cpu's

Excellent product and would recommend it to anyone. Though find yourself a user guide if you have not used the CS3 softwares before.
