I have my old friend back! Greatest graphic program ever! [Posted on 2007-12-20]
It's my birthday today and I got this PAGEMAKER as a gift from my ever-loving daughter.

She was with me when I switched from Mac OS9 to Mac OS10 ... and saw my horror when I found I couldn't use my PAGEMAKER with that system. My particular iMac had something called Classic that was supposed to work with PM but I never could get it to work.

I was further horrified to find that I couldn't even open the graphics I had worked on through the years, and when I went to the Apple Store the salesman told my I had to get InDesign because they no longer made PM. I was devastated but was not about to spend over $400 on InDesign; besides it wouldn't resurrect what I had lost in the transition.

So after a good, hearty cry, I carried on without a graphic system.

Well, about a month ago I was searching for an iPod for one of the grandchildren when I ran across this PM. I was shocked to learn it works with OS10. I was so happy I immediately phoned my daughter and told her I was getting one ... after Christmas.

So to surprise me on my birthday (today) she gave me this product. I just got through trying it out, and am simply delighted. No new techniques to learn; it's the same old familiar, user-friendly system. I can't wait to make my business cards, bookmarks, flyers, and other materials I need for my novels--not to mention the fancy montages and photo-cards for birthdays and other special occasions.

Thanks to my daughter! (And she was delighted with the price; she recalls when I bought my first one in the upper $300. range. If I recall correctly, it was $379.)

I love this product ... After using it for many years in publishing my former newspaper and later designing promotional material for my novels, it's like having a beloved old friend back in my life.

I'm ending this review early; can't wait to go make those elegant graphics!
