Works great [Posted on 2008-04-01] My Call of Duty 4 game on the xbox 360 was scratched to hell, and no sounds played at all. Went through the repair process and it works fine now. Only gave the product 4 stars because of the confusing instructions. The bottom of the disc still looks scratched, but since it plays now, no harm, no foul.
It Sucks [Posted on 2008-06-25] Its neat but it doesnt really get the scratches out. I suggest d-skin or something.
This caused semi-circular scratches on DVDs [Posted on 2008-07-02] I have a number of dirty CD's from kids.
I put in a fingerprint marked up disc and the Aleratec cleaned it up.
However, I noticed that there were a lot of fine semi-circular SCRATCHES that looked like they were caused by the cleaning wheels!
I'm not sure if they will interfere with operations, but it seems like adding scratches as you clean isn't a very sustainable way of cleaning a CD.
I wish I could return it, but I've had it too long now.
CAVEAT:
I haven't tried it on a scratch to repair yet.
I don't think I'll use it to clean any dirty, but non-scratched discs.
Does Not Work! [Posted on 2008-07-16] I had two CD's which skipped a little bit while playing. Nothing huge where the CD stops or jumps to the next song. The CD would skip a few seconds in a song, thats it. So, after reading the rave reviews on this product I was sure this was going to be a fix. What a failure this is. It did nothing to improve the skips on the CD's. I even tried following some of the other customer directions from this site because they say their methods work better than the instruction manual. Like one of the customers who thought his method would work on page 2 I tried his method by trying to repair each CD for up to 2 hours! 2 hours! That is a ridiculously long time to repair one CD and since I had nothing else to do last night I tried it. You guessed it, didnt do a dam thing to improve the CD. What a waste of money.
Does what it says [Posted on 2008-07-21] This prodiuct does a great job at fixing dvd's. I have 4 children and they are very tough on movies, games and music. This product fixes most of the issues.
