The first time I got these speakers, they sounded excellent 4 surround speakers, 1 center speaker, 1 big subwoofer with a tunning box to control volume, surround, center, and bass. The base is much powerful than the vs2121 subwoofer and is alot bigger than the other one. If you are looking for speakers these are them. But one thing you need to get the full experience of these speakers is a sound card. i suggest you but the Aopen Cobra AW 850 6 channel sound card, which is sold on amazon.com only $14. Also on the back of the control pod is a 2/4 and 6 channel switch, so get a 6 channel sound card like the one i metioned before and experience the full effect of the 5.1 surround sound speaaker set. Good Price, for 1 big bass, control pod, and 5 speakers and another cord that comes with the set is a converter so you can hook the green cord into the rca cable. Dont buy the vs2121 which are 2 speakers, 1 sub, and a conrtol pod (depends on which set you get) because they are only about $20 cheaper than this set so but this altec lansing 5.1 multimedia speaker set with a Aopen Cobra AW850 6 channel sound card. You will Love It!!!

I got these speakers 2 years ago, and theve worked great with heavy use and in adverse conditions (including iraq) I love them, the only flaw is the lack of dual voltage capability (how i lost mine), and thats not an issue for 80% of you out there...
