The USB hub works fine but the card reader won't work with compact flash. In fact I broke a compact flash card trying to make it work. Have not tried other types of cards.

My overall impression is that you are getting what you pay for. This hub/reader comes with a power adapter that theoreticaly allows you to charge/power USB devices without attaching them to a computer. The power adapter did not work on the hub I purchased, but the hub and card reader work well. So if you are looking for an inexpensive USB 2.0, 3 port hub/card reader this one works fine.

This product quick working properly after 1 use- card slot wouldn't recognize card inserted- not worth time & trouble to return this cheaply made product- would NOT buy another or replace w/ same- a DON'T buy

dropped a star due to conflict in hardware [Posted on 2008-07-26]
not really sure it's alurateks problem but with my macbook and viewsonic 26" monitor, when i connect via DVI, sometimes coming out of sleep, the USB is dead, i have to pull all things out and replug them or wait about 15 minutes for it to reset itself. when i use vga connector, no problem so it's kind of weird issue.

I wish this had one more USB port on it, three is not enough and when they are close to each other something you can only use two devices if they are large. The card reader is useful but slow.

Only reason that one star is removed is due to the short cables. Works for everything I've tried. Seems to be built solid enough. Does not require A/C power for undemanding USB devices. There are no activity lights for the card reader slots. As long as it keeps working, I'm quite happy with it.
