Fantastic return value!!! [Posted on 2004-06-01] 4.5 stars. Really, the only negative with this game is that once you finish the game, that's it. If you return to this genuinely nightmarish realm of the gothic, surreal, and macabre the only variation is in the level of difficulty in the initial settings page. I played the "easy" level all the way through and Alice died countless times. With that in mind...feel free to save the game at any point, particularly after long sections of exploring or after theatrical scenes or you may have to go through it all over again. Besides that, there is so much to recommend about this game from an entertainment perspective. The game seems to go on forever, loaded with twisted yet familiar characters that may help or hinder Alice's progress, and the journey never becomes boring or tedious. The only times I found to be monotonous were when I forgot to save the game and had to run through the dark corridors battling the same foes once more. Also, there is a very good reason why the music for this game is available on CD. It is creepy and ambient and elevates the gaming experience to an entirely new level it would not have had otherwise. This game is constantly interesting...and oftentimes bloody! All in all, considering the hours I spent enthralled with this ten-dollar game, the return value was/is fantastic! Thank you.
American McGee is a genius [Posted on 2004-07-17] Hands down, the best video game I've ever played. It's become something of a cult classic, and rightfully so; it's delightfully creepy, complex (to the reviewers who claimed it was "linear" - are you insane?), and the graphics are awesome. I've beat it several times now, and I just keep going back for more.
A dark game to just love [Posted on 2004-10-05] When I saw an ad for this game, something just drew me to it. I don't know if it was just the twistedness of my mind, or the game just looked good. We have the story of alice who is a few years older with a darker hair color to match her dark persona. She may have returned happy from wonderland before, but now she survived a fire that killed her family and is a local at the mental instatution. She is called back to wonderland and wonderful it is not as the queen of hearts now rules with an iron fist. All the old characters are back in a twisted way and the errie music that accomponies this game truly sets the mood. A good game but kinda hard to control at first. I would love it if this would be a movie (an interesting concept actually) but a game you should definately get and a deal at the price nowadays.
Buy it from Amazon [Posted on 2005-06-12] Overstock.com ripped me off and I could have gotten it here from an Amazon seller for $6 cheaper, but I didn't realize it until a while after the fact because I couldn't find the game anywhere and simply forgot about Amazon somehow.
The game is very good (the keyboard/mouse controls are a bit annoying to me as sometimes you have to jump around in tight positions and I'd like a gamepad for that), but it was a little hard to find, but if you're reading this, I'm telling you that your best shot pricewise is from an Amazon seller.
OMG I LERFF THIS GAME [Posted on 2006-04-27] if anyone of you think im wrong or oppose me i will hunt you down... this game is the complete shiz!!
