Definetly a high quality PSU. Antec of course is a great name and although the True Power series PSUs aren't cheap, they are well worth the money. I would recommend to anyone looking for a reputable, stable, and quiet power supply.

It seems to work now, but had a lot of troble at first [Posted on 2003-05-12]
I bought this, not actually because my old P/S went out, becasue it was working fine. I bought it because of the Emerax style fans. It has good wattage, but my old one was 300. I needed the suck-fan because my box was getting hot and it could carry the suck-fan directly above the CPU(where most of the heat is). The case runs slightly cooler now. I had to use a pair of plyers and rip the metal on the metal stand where the P/S sat in order to line up the fan properly(The fan opening on my case was in the wrong position.) If you don't have an Antec case, don't get an Antec P/S. It won't work in some cases. Don't do what I did, metal shards could get sucked into your P/S. I had to file it off with sandpaper.
Now for the main part of the review. I continually got BSoD(Blue Screans of Death) in 98SE after installing the P/S for about two weeks. Even Windows XP Pro froze up frequently(I dual-boot). After that everything seemed to work ok. Computers have to get used to knew hardware, it's like an organ transplant to them. The gripe I have now is that, although I rarely get freezes or BSoD; my computer stalls frequently(esp. Windows XP) when I issue commands. NAV and my word documents stall before the execution of those programs and saving documents sometimes requires a reboot(cold boot). The P/S is 380 watts, but is not designed for certain case/M/B combinatons. The fans move slower too when hooked up to the fan hook ups because the workload is lite in net surfing/NAV manual scan, ect. I am an avid gameplayer as well and games frequently freeze before execution requiring a reboot.(cold) I usually get them working after that. I do not recommend this, unless you have an antec case and maybe a shop that custom builds computers. If you want an Antec, ask M/BX to build it for you.

Antec actually bundles the "S" version of these power supplies with their "quiet" cases, such as the Antec Sonata. The difference between the "S" and this version is that the "S" version has only one fan, which is rear mounted.

The power supply was very easy to use, and quite silent in operation. Plenty of cables to hook up an ATX board, four hard disks, floppy, two optical disks and extra power to the Radeon graphics card. All with ample cables with no extensions.

The only complaint I had was that for one or two days, it gave off a fairly strong plastic-burning smell. Luckily, I'd seen that mentioned about these power supplies on mailing lists, or I would've been very worried.

Great hardware but.... [Posted on 2007-01-05]
I have 3 coputer for audio edit(sadie5 ), this machines comes with that power supply. In one year I have change the all 3. This have a problem on temperature and explode various capacitors.

I test with other cheap power supply and no have problems.

I bought a Sonata case for the latest computer I've built about two years ago. All this time Antec Trupower 380S provided a stable supply of power, while emitting very little noise. No problems whatsoever.

The system in worked on: AMD Athlon64 3000 processor (socket 939 updated to Opteron 175), 1 (later 3) Gigs of RAM, MSI Platinum Neo2 (7025) MoBo, ATI 9700 video card, 3 hard drives, DVD writer.
