Apple Airport Extreme Card [Posted on 2007-03-26] I just installed the Airport Extreme Card on my eMac and have moved the computer as far away from the router as it can possibly be in my house. The signal is very strong and it is working great. Highly recommend this product.
Painless installation [Posted on 2007-06-01] I purchased this card for a first generation 20" iMac G5. Installation is simple: release three captive screws at the bottom of the iMac, remove the back cover and pedestal, and insert the card into the retainer cage. The card plugs into a socket, plus it has an antenna cable. That's all there is to it.
Once rebooted, the machine will automatically detect the card but it will not turn on wireless networking. If you are ready to connect to a network then it takes maybe a minute or two to turn it on and pick the wireless access point.
The iMac is now at the opposite side of the house (brick, steel, concrete condo) and wireless performance with the D-Link WBR-1310 is great.
Most new Macs already have an airport card, so this product is primarily aimed at people that own slightly older Macs with a built-in airport socket/cage. The price is really good, these cards retailed for $79 when they originally came out. And once you plug it in, it works forever, I am yet to run into somebody that has had an airport extreme card fail, not even DOA.
AirPort Express card easy to install [Posted on 2008-02-14] This card fits the 2005 flat panel iMac with the ball base. I had the AirPort Express card out of the box and installed in my iMac in less than 10 minutes. As soon as the software installed, the WiFi nearest me was connected. Speed is incredible. If you buy without software, download from Apple ahead of time. Give yourself some overlap time if you're changing e-mail addresses.
Perfect [Posted on 2008-07-24] Easy to install on my old eMac. I already had a wireless network working so from opening the box to being online took no more than 15 minutes.
