Customer Reviews:

brilliant until gets dirty [Posted on 2007-09-22]
this mouse came with my intel-imac 17", and i loved it. the 360 degree scroll is something fascinating and very intuitive to use, and also the lateral button was very good as "exposé". maybe i prefer the rough finish of traditional mouses better instead of the shiny one of the mighty mouse, but that's no real issue when the mouse works.

but in less then 3 months of use, the scroll stopped working and after research in the net, i found that the mouse has a serious project issue that prevents it from being properly cleaned: your sweat just enters the scroll and stays there.

i tried all the methods of cleaning, high-pressure air, alcohol, water with mild soap, pencils, vacuum cleaner - everything i've heard people saying - but 30 min later the scroll was again faulty.

there are things that must only work, and it's not conceivable to spend time trying to make the mouse work. that's so true that when i plugged the microsoft mouse on my computer, there was no way back for the mighty mouse: he is back to his nice box inside my also nice imac box.

only thing i miss is the looks - so fitted with the imac. for this one, i couldn't still find a proper successor...

This is an awful product [Posted on 2007-11-20]
This is simply an awful product. Even the reviews on the MAC website concur with this opinion.

The problems are numerous: the cord is too short, the right-click button is difficult to consistently find/use, the scroll button broke after two months, and the two side buttons have NO USE whatsoever. In fact, the two side buttons take so much effort to press, I only used them a couple days because my wrist was becoming sore.

This is a product that should be avoided at all costs. The scroll button breaking issue has been reported by numerous users on reviews here and on MAC - this is not a fluke. I have nothing good to say about this product except that it looks nice.... but I'd take an ugly functional mouse over a pretty poorly-designed mouse any day.

Great addition for your Mac, but scroll ball is so-so. [Posted on 2008-01-09]
First off, I don't own this product. I used it for ten minutes at a local store. So, anyway, here we go:

When I used the MM (Mighty Mouse), I thought that Apple had made another great product. After another few minutes, I became a bit disenchanted because the scroll ball was so hard to use. Other than that, I loved the mouse. It's great that you can squeeze it to call up the Dashboard (default; you can change what this does) and click the scroll ball to do something else (Spaces, maybe).

All in all, this is a great mouse and a good choice to buy for your Mac.

Don't Buy it unless you like downtime while cleaning the scroll wheel [Posted on 2008-02-16]
The mouse itself is sleek, slick and effortless to use. However, it loses ALL of it's stars (and Apple loses alot of my good will), because of the scroll wheel issue. If you don't believe me just go out on the 'net and search "mighty mac scroll down" and watch the anger rise up from cyberspace. I am FAR from alone.

I bought my iMac Pro in December of 2007 and I'm ALREADY on my second mouse- both of them with the same exact problem. After a very short while, you will notice the scroll wheel not working when you're scrolling down. ALOT.

So, you have to stop what you're doing, blow into the hole AND / OR clean the wheel with a damp cloth AND / OR turn the mouse over and roll it around on a cloth or a piece of paper to dislodge whatever miniscule dust or dirt particle gets in the wheel house of the mouse. You can't open up the mouse without a major hassle so you're left frustrated and wanting to switch to Logitech bad. It doesn't seem to take much- any microscopic little bit of dust or dirt that gets in there will see you spending plenty of time trying to get the thing working properly. And when you do fix it, it won't take long for the very same problem to recur.

On the other hand, it's a great mouse if you work in a freakin' clean room.

The store felt replaced my first one at no cost and when I was there to pick up this new replacement the guy said "I doubt you'll have much better luck with this one, to be honest".

Five stars only If the cable was longer [Posted on 2008-04-20]
Great gadget. Every feature works perfectly. But... The cable is too short. It should be ok if you connect the mouse to a USB plug on a keyboard. But I bought it to use with my MacBook. Bad idea. The fact is: after using a wireless mouse for months I just wanted a regular one. The wireless mouse looks perfect in concept. But when it gets out of juice at the worst moments you just think: why I didn't buy it with a cord, dammit! Another thing I don't like about the cordless mouses is that they tend to drop from the table and go (with a bang!) to the floor. A mouse with a cable has a safeguard: it doesn't let it go straight to the floor. Think about it before getting into the wireless hype.
