Customer Reviews:

You'd better think twice! [Posted on 2003-12-03]
I work at an office that has decided to go wireless. I had always used PC's, but was willing to try the ibook. Luckily, I do not have to pay for these worthless machines. In one year, my ibook has completly died four times. The monitor doesn't turn on, and there are no signs of life to it. It does not matter how carefull you are with taking care of it. All four times, the moitor becomes fuzzy, then black, then the machine is dead. Besides the fact that the computer has a life span of two months, it freezes more than any PC I have ever used. When a colorful circle appears on your screen (as it does so often), you can forget about your presentation, or anything else you had been working on. Also, If I recieved a nickle for everytime the desktop suddenly apears and a message saying "Application Unexpectedly Quit", I would be a very rich man. Do not invest your hard earned money into this junk, buy something reliable.

Huzzah for Apple and Steave Jobs! [Posted on 2003-12-29]
i bought this computer when it first came out (may 2003) along with an iPod and a few other stuff. This beautiful machine has served me very faithfully, better than my 3.2 GHz Pentium 4 machine. I read the other reviews and i salute the mac supporters, but the others have to learn that they are computers, and they sometimes dont run very well. but macs have a RISC processor setup, like the AMD machines (switch i have also switched to) and OS X runs on the UNIX system, which is the most stable system in the world. I have used macs from the first OS that came out, i was impressed with each one, i have also used windows from DOS, which bill gates stole from IBM, DOS was originnaly designed for Apple, i know DOS like the back of my hand, and i hate it, its worthless compared to UNIX, Linux, Solaris, and OS X! If you buy any mac computer, you will agree with me, they kick @$$ either if its a dual 2.0GHz G5, or this litte iBook, you will be amazed!

Also, for those hackers out there... Macs are a wonderful hacker computer, i am a hacker, and when ever i attack something, my computer shows as a Windows NT 4 machine! Ha! Also, there is a wonderful hacking program for the mac, its called Cyanide. D/L it, its free and rocks. Oh yeh and for the other people interested in macs, macs are very hard to hack, and there are very few macintosh viruses out there, and most of them are corrected with Norton!

wOOT mACs!!!!

Great Product from Apple!!! [Posted on 2004-01-24]
I bought my ibook around xmas and i was very impressed! The graphics are increible!!! This a fast computer especially when I added 512 mb of ram. If you arent computer literate (which seems like the people who didnt write a good review for the product) then apples arent for you. If you are not very good at computers and have trouble on them then go with a PC. I am very satisfied with it and I actually started on a PC and made the SWITCH. I will never go back to a PC. Apples are absolutely awesome computers with sweet applications. Itunes, ilife '04, and safari are great. It seems like they made this computer just for me and if you bought this, youd feel the same way!

Great product! Very happy with it, minor issues. [Posted on 2004-02-05]
I'm very happy with my iBook. I've had this guy for a few months now, and love him to death. I've named him Findlay, which means "Blonde haired solider". This guy has been a strong and faithful warrior for me. (I figure the white case is close enough to blonde. :)) I rarely have to re-boot, and haven't had any issues with the software.

I'm a student and carry him with me all over. The previous computer I used (shared with siblings) was the 14 inch model. I like the compactness of this one, because of how much time I spend lugging him around.

I chose this model because of it's price and size. 20-20 hindsight, I might have bought the next newer model. I spent another $100 on more RAM, because it was painfully slow. Now it's nice and speedy, but I don't like the fact that I don't have another slot, for future upgrade.

The only other issue that I have is that they claim it is "Airport Ready." This does *NOT* mean that it has an airport card, and is ready to go. It means it is "Airport *CARD* Ready." The airport card costs about $100.
So, if you're going to want the extra RAM, and the airport card, count on your final price being about $200 more than is listed.
If I'd thought about those costs, I might have choosen a different model to begin with.

Besides those little issues with the extras, I love my computer! I'll be off to college next year, and expect him to service me through at least 4 years, as long as I can put up with the shame of having a 4 year old computer. :)

Even a year later, it's still alive and kickin'... [Posted on 2005-01-08]
I bought this baby over a year and a half ago and it still runs perfectly well! I'm a graphic design student and the poor thing has gotten scratched, scraped and dented...not to mention the dozens of black charcoal smudges that cover its white surface from all my drawing classes. True, I do wish I could magically transform the outer surface to its original pure white finish BUT it amazes me that such a little machine could withstand such torture! I run the entire Adobe Creative Suite on it (Photoshop, Illustrator, Go Live, Acrobat...), have tons of data and music files, and still manage to have Dreamworks and Flash. However, I have run into problems with the speed and managing to run a number of programs at the same time. Possibly because I never shelled out the extra $100 to get the 512 RAM (duh.) which I will definitely do now! This is definitely an issue during finals week... Anyway, the only qualm I have are the speakers do happen to suck. Over the year or so I've owned it, the quality has gotten so irritatingly bad that I only use headphones on it and even then, the right speaker is kinda busted. Regardless, if you get an Airport card and the extra RAM, this G3 works perfectly! And you can throw it in your backback and not have to worry about it.
