Asus Eee 2G SurfBrand: Asus Binding: Personal Computers
Great for Travel [Posted on 2008-04-29] I am a 56 year old returning to the University taking courses for my teaching credential. This computer arrived in less than one week. I plugged it in to charge initially, and then set it up in less than 5 minutes. It works fantastic! The wireles at the college comes up in no time at all. I love the little games that come with it. This would never replace a full size computer, but for on-the-go travel it's great for checking e-mail from any free wi-fi spot and also looking up information on the web. A definite recommended addition to a busy life style!
it is not so good as I expected. [Posted on 2008-04-29] Unlike its product description, i cannot view the video file well with this computer. I used flash disk, and when I open some video files, it appears discontinously. I am a little regretful!
ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf 7" [Posted on 2008-05-03] This is a great little laptop if you're only interested in using the internet. Its about the same size as the small Sony Vaio and only weighs about 2 pounds. The Linux operating system boots up really quickly and you're ready to surf the net in approximately 30 seconds. The small (2 GB) hard drive makes it unsuitable for running any significant programs because Linux and the preloaded software take up most of the space. My only disappointment is the battery life (only about 90 minutes). A great deal for $299.
Really good, but can't substitute a laptop [Posted on 2008-05-06] It's great and very convenient, but still slow for some simple operations, even for videos on the internet. Maybe this can be achieve with an upgrade in the memory.
Asus Eee PC 2G Surf [Posted on 2008-05-06] The Asus is a sweet little second computer that allows one to Google answers when watching TV or type (if you have small hands) reports anywhere. However, when I first opened mine it would not work with my AirPort Extreme. When I called for support, the first two support persons had suggestions that were way off, and didn't make any sense. The third spent 20 minutes with me, deleting, reimporting, connecting and deconnecting until I could access the web at home. About a week later when I turned on the computer, I could not access the web again. I called and I got a Chinese person with limited English who, after one computer move (i.e. accessing "Network") literally screamed at me for an answer to how many things were listed under "Type". I mean, screamed and screamed. I visualized him standing on the desk and jumping up and down. When I asked if I could talk with someone else, he said "No, call back tomorrow." I did. The person didn't know what to do, and I finally figured it out myself.
It just shouldn't be that hard.
