Great motherboard, you will need to buy a seperate riser for the optical out and it does not have that many slots, but it is fast and quite.

Im a linux noob, this mobo is part of the first system I built and i've had no problems from it. If only all component swaps were this easy. If I have one gripe, its that the optical out is slightly difficult to find. All in all 5 stars.
Reliable Media Center Motherboard with Lots of Value Packed In!!! [Posted on 2007-11-16]
This motherboard provides lots of bang for your buck! It supports both SATA and IDE connections for your hard drives. It also has an onboard 6150 nVidia chipset that can share up to your 256MB memory --- not the best card and definitely not the worst, but it's perfect for gamers who can't afford a better video card right away! The only thing I wish this MB had was a fiber optical out --- you have to buy this separately. Please also note that you have to use VERY SPECIFIC MEMORY (I use TWIN2X2048-6400C4). Finally, I have an AMD dual-core 6000+ CPU on it.
In the end, this is a VERY effective motherboard for gaming and a media center... in fact, it is on all the time in my living room (about 2 months now) and is plugged into my Samsung 52" LCD (lnt5271f). I typically use 1920x1080 for watching TV and 1024x768 for gaming.
On a last note, make sure you use the latest drivers and bios from the Asus website. Don't bother with what's packaged with it.

Been running this about 6 months with an AMD X2 3800+ -- very low power processor. I bought the board cause I wanted it all -- 4 DIMM slots, firewire, high-quality integrated video with the chance to upgrade to PCI express discrete video later, AM2 socket, and the TV out module was a bonus (that I installed but haven't used yet, but soon will with video editing). No problems of any kind, started with 1 GB DDR2 RAM and the cheapest AMD X2 processor, and the performance of the integrated video is fine with Google Earth and Photoshop. I was upgrading from old AGP 8MB graphics and a celeron 300 processor. I like the board layout and extra firewire back panel connector, and the DVI and analog VGA output is a nice bonus. Recommended for all but serious high-end video users (hard core gamers, I guess).
