perfect board for building a hackintosh [Posted on 2008-07-24] i have this overclocked to 3.21 quadcore, 6 gigs of ram and a nice 7950 gt with two dvi lcds on it. It has 6 sata internal and you can hook up two more external in the esata ports. I love it. Just make sure you use sata drives and not ide. The jmicron crashes with ide hooked. Mac OS 10.5.4.

Great P5 motherboard. Overclocks really well [Posted on 2008-08-21] This is an awesome motherboard. It will overclock like a beast. I originally had an E6750 pushed to 3.36ghz per core. Now I've upgraded to a 45nm E8400 and I'm running it at 3.8ghz per core, stable.
The board layout is logical and easy to work with. I've paired this board with a Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 for some great gaming. Only disadvantage is that the board only has 1 PCIE 16x slot. The other functions at 4x, meaning this is not the best board for a crossfire configuration. If that's really important to you, get a board with the X48 chipset that has dual 16x PCIE slots.
Soon I'm going to refit this board into a multimedia pc case, get a blueray drive, and connect it to my home stereo and TV. It will be perfect for that application.
In sum, a great MB for the price. Built-in wifi is really nice, as is the logical layout of the board, the excellent heat spreaders, and the very high ceiling for overclocking.
A few thigs to know first [Posted on 2008-11-12] This motherboard is great.
My build:-
Processor: Intel Core2Duo E8400 45nm - 3Ghz
Memory: Corsair Dominator 4GB (1GBx4) @ 1066Mhz
Graphics: XFX 8600 GT 512MB
Things you should know first:-
1- For the first boot, you will need a DDR2 800Mhz RAM. Because the motherboard doesn't auto detect the 1066Mhz RAM. That 800Mhz RAM will be needed every time you flash your BIOS, unless the update released solves this issue.
2- The first thing you MUST do when you buy this board is to UPDATE TO THE LATEST BIOS.
When i first booted that board it gave me a message that the processor is not recognized (because the processor is a 45nm). So update the BIOS and this will be solved.
3- Installing the Q-Fans.. when you grab the Q-Fan.. a small booklet comes with it in its bag.. Just throw this small booklet in the trash can because it is wrong.. go with the instructions printed in the motherboards' manual for installing the Q-Fans.
Until now ... I haven't used this motherboard well enough to give any review about software stuff.. but i will sure update my review when possible.
