Cook Sizzles! [Posted on 2007-01-11] Barbara Cook at the MET is a gem! It is a must for theatre lovers. Her choice and sequence of songs give one the feeling of being in the MET and enjoying every moment of her show. Her two exceptional and talented guests, Audra MacDonald and Josh Groban lived up to the standard of Ms Cook. Most exceptional in this recording is the haunting and chilling rendition of Barbara Cook and Josh Groban's take on Stephen Sondheim's "Move On". I remember repeating this track atleast 5 times before I could - move on. This is by far the best interpretation of the song and will most certainly be difficult to surpass. Bravo!!!
What a voice [Posted on 2007-01-17] It's only Barbara Cook with the most beautiful voice and the best selection. Sit back and dream of sitting at the Met with Barbara and her guests. Who could ask for more?
Icing for an Incredible Career "Cake" [Posted on 2007-05-14] Barbara Cook and The Met were made for each other, Although fans of Miss Cook probably have heard everything she sings in this concert, it still is an historic treasure. The only thing missing form this performance is the late Wally Harper, with whom she collaborated so brilliantly for over 30 years. Barbara Cook's intelligent "take" on any song, combined with a technical precision that remains impeccable, is an American treasure. I prefer to visit her in an intimate cabaret----but she glitters even in the cavernous Met.
Voice of an angel [Posted on 2007-07-11] I can't believe Barbara Cook is in her late 70s. Her voice is still unbelievably beautiful.
