Customer Reviews:

Great game but NS activation code is missing! [Posted on 2008-02-23]
I'm playing this game since it came out it's just great, I bought it to play northern strike booster pack since I didn't bought it through EA Link software.

NOTICE: theres a major issue with this release, no one that has bought Battlefield 2142 Deluxe has been able to play northern strike booster pack because activation code is missing. I were in contact with EA Support and forums as well a week ago, it's seems no resolution yet for issue. It's EA fault as usual.

Please be aware that you can play Battlefield 2142 original maps except NS booster pack maps.

EDIT: EA told me that I can activate Northern Strike booster pack by using Battlefield 2142 CD Key which it available on the back of manual, and it's work for me.

Better than BF2 in most ways [Posted on 2008-03-11]
I bought this game as something new to do versus BF2 and BF2: Special Forces. I've had the game for about two months now and it's pretty fun. The maps which are mainly infantry only are a bit interesting. They're harder than BF2 because you don't get quite as much nade spamming but at the same time, the landscape and terrain make for better fire fights. Takes some getting used to.

I personally prefer the Titan mode, myself. That's where this game really comes alive. Normal Assault mode (described above) is pretty much just BF2 but with futuristic weapons and Infantry Only (for the most part). But Titan mode provides the most action and ... creativity. You can move the Titan around the map to gain the most strategic point for the main guns that players can control to attack and defend missile silos (ie. Flags) and being able to launch in a pod from the Titan and land directly in the middle of the battle makes for some interesting tactics.

Only real con that I can think of is that in Titan mode, if you get a half decent squad inside the enemy Titan to play defense, it can be really boring. Just keep getting blown up and killed in many cheap ways. Usually much better to just be a ground pounder or a pilot and attack and capture silos.

Battlefield 2142.....DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Posted on 2008-05-18]
I am a total fan of Battlefield, and having played BF2 to death decided to download the demo of 2142. Wow!! It was fantastic! The graphics are amazing and the game is real fun BUT!!!! I made the huge mistake of buying four copies of this game, one for me, two for my brothers and one for my son as we had our own clan on BF2 and we wanted to have a change of play. I really wish I had not wasted my money. You will find that virtually every game you play, you will be disconnected from the EA server and any awards you earned for that round will be lost, making the game pointless. It is pathetic....if you play two games in a row without being diconnected, be amazed! I always am. It is not a problem with the game, it is EA's servers and they seem unable to do anything about it. You will be racked with frustration especially if you just got that hard to get ribbon. Sometimes you will disconnect two or three times in ten minutes. Check the EA forums to see what I mean before you buy!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

Battlefield 2142 [Posted on 2008-07-02]
I played BF1942 before I was in highschool, and now I'm playing BF2142 in college. That said, it should be clear that I have a strong connection with the battlefield series. I think BF2142 is a worthy addition to the series, even if it was designed using the BF2 engine. Bf2142 has a whole different feeling to it than BF2...better in my opinion. All the unlocks are fun to get and put into practice. All the maps seem to be well constructed and a blast to play on. As with all BF games, there is a bit of a steep learning curve, but once you pick a specialty and get past that (if you have some decent skill), you'll be on top of the pack in no time. A lot of people criticized the game because of the ads that were in the game. Just let me say that there is NO spyware or malware involved in this game....none... The ads consist of real-life ads being put on billboards within the game(which change fairly often), and thats it. They don't bother me, and I really don't even care that they are there. I highly recommend this game...if the player community stays strong like BF2 and bf1942...then 2142 will be tons of fun for several more years down the road.

Great Game BUT..................................... [Posted on 2008-07-04]
Buyer Beware!!!

This deluxe edition claims to have the booster pack Northern Strike as well but either this is not the case or EA has some serious problems here. Just search the internet and you will find numerous threads on this issue with the game deluxe edition.

In short, the game installs fine claiming that you are getting both the orginal version as well as the booster pack. However, once you are done activating and registering your account you can ONLY play the orginal BF2142 maps with no issues. But once you try to access any of the Northern Strike booster pack maps the game acts like you dont have the booster pack installed and directs you to EA link to purchase it even though the deluxe edition should have installed the booster pack already. I have sent lots of emails to EA but all i am getting are useless automated or cut & paste responses. As of now there is no real resolution to this issue. If EA helps me out I will update my post otherwise think before buying.

Other than that an awesome game. The titan mode is the real winner here. I have been involved in some serious fights around and inside the Titan for supermacy. You have 14 maps of intense battles and the game rewards the players who played the most with more effective weapons as well as armor unlocks and a persistent talent system. I will however, seriously recommend all newbies(until you have unlocked some weps and armor too) to stick with armored vehicles and only try to engage one-on-one if you have the advantage or are in a group. Otherwise you will be relentlessly farmed by players who have uber weapons than you for a very long time.
