I took it out, plugged it in, and there was light. When I switch it off, the light goes out. When I switch it on, the light comes back on. The color is a nice shade of 100% black. Once I positioned the arm where I needed it, it stayed put. I will never touch it again. It uses a standard Halogen bulb available everywhere. The weighed base is just the right size for a small desk and only takes up the footprint of a small cereal bowl turned upside down. Life is sweet.

When I saw the Lamp for the first time I didn't think it would be that small, so I was a littel disappointed. As I used it more and more I started to like it. Is a small Lamp but is a bright lamp. I would recommend this product to people that want a small lamp for reading or for when using the computer. Is excellent merchandise for that.

The light bulb did not last long and the arm kept falling down no matter how tightened it was.

If it worked perfectly, I would like it. However, it arrived slightly damaged (I used super glue instead of going through the return process) and that worked just fine. But now, after just two weeks of having it on my desk and using it approximately 8 hrs/day, the bulb is flashing in and out (I'm assuming to tell me it needs to be replaced). I should have returned it from the start.

read some of the other reviews re flawed construction but mine works perfectly. Has that ''made in China'' glow but for $16 can't complain. Also like the smaller size vrs some of the very large flexible lamps, great for a smaller size desk.
