Excellent sound quality and Excellent comfort.. [Posted on 2008-07-01] i am using these headphones from 2.5 years. i really like them.
sound is excellent and they are very comfortable. i don't fell like i am wearing them. you can comfortably wear them for at least 5-6 hours. i use them on regular basis.
Good Sound Quality - Flimsy Build Quality [Posted on 2008-07-10] I have been using these for the last 2 years.
These are no doubt the best headphones I have ever used. Sound is pretty good and I can easily tell the difference when I am using other ones and this one.
However, this has serious build quality issues:
1. The plastic end where the headband connects to the earphones is very cheap. It broke within a year of usage - in spite of my being very careful in using it.
2. Now, after nearly 2 years, the earphones material came off, exposing the sponge inside.
While the 2nd issue is *probably* OK (or is it? for so much price?), the first issue reflects very bad on the company. Don't they use their own products? Haven't they found this while testing the quality?
++ for sound quality
-- for build quality
Note: These are *not* noise-cancelling headphones. Some sellers say these are "passive noise-cancelling" headphones. All they mean is, because it fits on your ear, it blocks any air flow, thus reducing the noise.
Avoid these if you can!
Hope this helps! :)
lower-cost bose without quality compromises [Posted on 2008-07-23] Occasionally, you buy an audio product that is so surprisingly and surpassingly excellent that it totally changes your listening experience. It is so with these headphones, and they are not even top of the line!
As I now listen almost exclusively to iPod digital recordings, I felt disappointed in the sound quality on both my computer and via my lesser-quality headphones. I got these (for my wife) and am absolutely floored by the clarity, the depth and detail of the sound.
From Jazz to folk to rock and classical, I am stunned at the quality of the sound.
Highest recommendation.
Bose deliveres...believe it! [Posted on 2008-08-13] I am the owner of a couple sets of spendy dynamic and electrostatic headphones. Both cost a multiple of what Bose charges for the around-the ear headphones. An argument can be made that they have the nth degree of refinement over the bose, but at a painful premium for sometimes marginal improvement. These Bose headsets are a grand slam. Don't think of them as "expensive" at $125, think of them as inexpensive for the high end. these phones deliver superb bass that isn't the "phat" fuzzy bass that midrange wireless headsets can have. This bass is tight with excellent low extension. It is leagues beyond headphones in it's price range. I just returned a set of Etymotic ER-6i. Why? The Bose beat them at everything they do. The Bose isolate sound as well. The Bose's bass, as I mentioned delivers regardless of material. They are as dynamic, and even more exciting to listen to than a number of more expensive headphones. There is no slouch in the midrange or treble reproduction either. Strings sing, horns blare and they are completely musical. Regardless of ad hype or prices, this product is a winner. I am now listening to them more than my high end phones. And don't think these are limited to MP3 players. They sound even better when used with a better source component like SACD or a nice CD player. My caveat again, is that if you decide to drop $400+ on headphones, there will be *some* refinement, but it isn't always exciting to listen to. Headphones gotta rock, and these do!
Great Headphones [Posted on 2008-08-18] I just got the Bose Around Ear headphones and I love them. I was really able to hear things from my music that was either too subtle or distorted to hear (i pod headphones). These handle volume very well, and although they don't advertise noise canceling, they do a great job of it. If you're considering an upgrade in audio, this is definitely a great way to go.
