Works great! [Posted on 2007-02-08] We purchased this for our office to replace a rather expensive Canon fax machine. This one works great! In fact we like it better than the expensive Canon one we had. It was easy to set up and extremely easy to use.
Truly a Business Fax [Posted on 2007-04-24] I debated and researched for weeks on different fax machines and brands. I had an older brother fax machine (5-6 years). It worked great but I had broken one of the trays and didn't hold a lot of paper. I debated some of the Multi-function copier-printer-faxes. For only a few dollars more I could get one that duplexes and every other option imaginable. I have a copier. I have printers. I needed a fax. I receive 100-150 faxes a day. This is simply a great fax machine. Nothing more and absolutely nothing else. It is quiet and extremely fast. "Pick one thing and do it great" - this is what this machine does. It isn't OK at a lot. It's great at one thing. It sends and receives faxes.
great product [Posted on 2007-08-09] we have 2 of these fax machines in our office already - this is a 3rd. we love it! very reliable and easy to work!
Excellent! [Posted on 2008-02-02] I own a store that sends faxes for customers, and I can tell you that this is a great fax machine for high volume faxing. Machines I've had in the past would choke on documents on even the lightest pastel colors. The scanning engine on this machine sees the background color, and ignores it, allowing those pages to be sent as quickly as if they were on bright white paper. No longer do I need to copy documents on color paper before faxing.
Some other reviews complain about a clicking sound. I have to listen very closely to hear what it is they're talking about. I'd have to guess that these people are used to inkjet fax machines. Most laser printer/fax machines make a heck of a lot more noise than this baby does. I'm amazed at how quiet it really is! It makes so little noise that I've had to set it to ring twice before recieving. Other laser fax machines that I've owned make so much noise I didn't need a ring to hear from across the store that they were recieving a fax. This baby is so quiet, that when I had it set to immediately answer, I'd stumble across faxes that had come in without me even knowing!
I haven't had it long enough to know how well it'll hold up over time, but I have high hopes for it.
My only complaint is that the delay for re-dials is 5 minutes, and there's no menu adjustment to shorten it. But then again, this is not an unusual problem, and far less serious than some of the other problems I've had with other machines.
If you're looking for a fax machine for your home, a multifunction printer that emphisises printer features may be a better choice for you. But if you're in a business situation in which you need to do a lot of faxing, this is one heck of a good fax machine.
Fast, reliable, easy to use [Posted on 2008-02-25] When I started asking around for recommendations for a new fax machine, almost everyone had one of these brother intellifaxes and raved about them. They send and receive quickly and reliably, they can handle fairly high volume, they're very low maintenence, and they're relatively inexpensive. My only complaint, which may be that I haven't figured out how to change it, is that the paper feeds in and out of the back of the fax, so that the machine must face sideways in order to have access to both the front keypad and the back where incoming faxes come out.
