MFC 620CN Fix [Posted on 2006-04-22] The Amzon description is wrong, the high yeld does not fit the 620CN model. However, if you snap off the extra tabs with a pair of pliers, it fits right in, and seems to be printing happily. Just compare it to the old cartidge, and remove the tabs that don't match, really easy.
It's pretty obvious that Brother purposely "crippled" the high yield ink so that anyone using the less expensive models (620CN) would have to buy the more expensive ink.
So get out your pliers and beat the system.........
Does NOT work with MFC-640CW [Posted on 2006-06-26] As the other comments here state, this cartridge also doesn't work with the MFC-640CW. If you break the offset black plastic tab off with a set of plyers/cutters, it can be made to work.
Works with my 640CW. This installation tip might help! [Posted on 2007-04-17] I bought my 640CW last fall because of its wireless capabilities. I'm an advanced graduate student, and I take class notes on a laptop. This printer makes it possible for me to print from my laptop, rather than having to transfer a file to a flashdrive and then to my desktop, just to print. I've gone through perhaps 10-12 cartridges to date and counting (I do a ton of printing) and been able to use every cartridge I've ever bought.
That said, I should clarify that I have had occasional problems with a cartridge INITIALLY: Occasionally after installing, I get a message indicating there is no cartridge installed. I tried removing and reinstalling a few times, without the message disappearing. It seems like once the printer starts to give that message (that there is no cartridge), it gets stuck in that message loop. The way I've worked around it is literally to unplug the printer, keep it off a minute or so, then plug it back in and turn it on. Then it works fine, recognizing the cartridge and functioning properly.
So, try that, and see if it helps. It's an occasional pain, but it does work for me, if I do this. It's because of this occasional glitch that I'm giving this a 4-star score. However, in fairness, I should point out that I don't truly know if it's an issue with the cartridge or with the printer design.
High Yield ink cartridge [Posted on 2008-06-04] This is my second Brother High Yield black cartridge for my MFC 5440. I have not done a detailed analysis of the yield from this cartridge, but it seems to give me about twice as many pages as the standard cartridge with only about a 50% increase in cost. Since black is the cartridge used most on my MFC this also means the black is used up about the same time as the color cartridges.
cheap , delivery fast, but my brother printer malfunction after 1 yr, so the ink is wasted. [Posted on 2008-10-03] cheap , delivery fast, but my brother printer malfunction after 1 yr, so the ink is wasted.
