Customer Reviews:

I despise this thing [Posted on 2006-12-30]
I work in a small medical office. This machine is set up as our main printer / fax.

If an incoming fax arrives at the same time as a print job, one is stored in memory, and the display says, "stored memory". The manual and software have no information regarding getting that item outof memory and onto paper. I have found how to do this from Brother's website - for later models.

Faxing files is an interesting affair. The feed rollers tend to jam on the hole punches in the papers, resulting in many jams. The best bet is to sit in fron of the machine, hand feeding each sheet one at a time, no to fast or the thing jams. And heaven forbid is jams part way through, you get to start over from scratch...

This is only the start of my hatred for this POS. But break time is over.

Wish I'd done more homework before I bought it! [Posted on 2007-01-27]
I liked this machine while it worked. It's a decent little printer and copier for home use, and it's nice to have a fax machine when you need one--don't know that I ever used the scanner (I have another one that I like). Also, my wife liked the small package. Where does Brother get an 8,000 page lifespan for the drum? A new one costs more than I paid for the machine, but I figured it'd last me 2-3 years before I had to junk the printer. However, mine only lasted nine months. This time I'm going to spend a little money and get something that'll last awhile.

This is not for office use [Posted on 2007-02-13]
This is more for home use not everyday office use. If you only need to use a fax machine for twice a year then go right ahead and use this. I hate this fax machine. I can't even scan 10 pages without it crumpling the paper or it usually grabs about 3 pages at a single time. I need something that can handle work and this fax machine can't do the job.

Excellent Piece of Home or Office Equipment [Posted on 2008-02-03]
This machine served me well, as an excellent laser and fax printer. in addition to being a scanner, phone with caller ID, and copier.

Software and drivers are glitchy, Slow [Posted on 2008-02-13]
Would not recommend. Just bought a Canon L170 to replace it. Software kept adding another copy into my printer folder, sometimes they would be online, other times offline. Sometimes it would print, other times I had to restart my computer to even recognize it. I know Windows is not without blame, but Brother's incoherant support staff in Micronesia wasted 3 (Three!) frikin' hours of my time and solved nothing. Hp drivers are pigs, Brother's can't seem to find a way to work, Lexmark has never impressed me and Epson makes me cringe so I moved on to Canon. I have Canon inkjets and scanners and have never had an issue.
