Brother MFC [Posted on 2001-11-07] I was fooled by the multi-functionality of the product, learning only the hard way that the head only has three months warranty. To replace it will cost $250+, now I have (an expensive) boat anchor!!
Great laser printer and fax [Posted on 2002-03-13] I bought this when I started working remotely and it has been great. The laser printer is high quality, and although it takes a bit of start-up time to print one page (as most laser printers do), I am able to print hundreds of page without any problems. I use the fax regularly, to send and receive, and have never had a problem with a mis-fax or missing an incoming fax. I have not used the copier much since you have to feed in the pages, but whenever I have used it I have been happy with the results. Overall, if you need a multifunction I highly recommend this one.
I have this MFC for over 4 years now... It has been GREAT! [Posted on 2005-09-14] Even though this one is an out-dated model, I think it's helpful for those who want to buy this as a second-hand unit (and Brother has been selling similar siblings too). It has been working really great for me for more than 4 years now (Got it in Amazon.com on January 2001). For me, it's a time-tested model and no major/minor issues whatsoever. I won't hesitate to buy another similar MFC model from Brother (though it's out of my price range now since I am looking for a real dirt cheap and good all-in-one second hand for my parents, which is really really hard to find).
P.S. Now I own this printer for over 7 years (as of May 2008), and it is still going strong.
