graphic card required [Posted on 2006-02-28]
The only problem is that I had to purchase a new graphic card to run this game.

THIS IS AN AWESOME GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Posted on 2006-03-09]
This is one of the best games i have ever played. I would say the best version is the X-box 360 version. I play it as much as i can, unless my mom doesn't let me! >=( Anyway. this game has alot of action. You may even feel tense in a multiplayer game. BANG! someone snipes u with a karq scope! i say hide if ur injured and wait to be healed up. on the story mode. MY favorite storylibe is destrying the building with Hitlers sign on it. hes soooo mean to jewish. A lot of my friends r JEwish. YOu just put a bomb past enimy Nazi's and...... BOOM! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! the big building crumbles to the ground! Gwahahahahaha! TAke That Hitler! U got told by game programmers! Anyway, Awesome graphics on Xbox 360, only a gush of blood if ur hit wid a grenade.
dear parents,
i know you dont want ur kids to be exposed to violence and blood in the war, but the kids also learn that disipline is the only way to survive... they also learn about how the war started and why. a little social studies.I recommend this game 10 and up. 9.. ehh. only if they're mature. 8-. NO WAY! it will give them nightmares! And if an 8- years of age is reading this with your parents. U WILL GET NIGHTMARES.

Very, Very Great Game. Nominee for GOTY 2005 [Posted on 2006-04-05]
The W.W. II genre has been around for ages by now, and for some reason there is still more and more W.W. II games being created. For a time all the games were the same and boring, then came Call of Duty, a game that brought a cinimatic feeling to the W.W. II genre, with some pretty large intensity following behind the cinimatic feeling. It was released in 2003 and was created by a company called Infinity Ward. When the GOTY (Game of the Year) awards came around Call of Duty won three awards which were: Game of the Year, Computer Game of the Year, and Computer First Person Action Game of the Year. It nominated in several other categories.

Two years later, in 2005, Infinity Ward brought us the little, and yet at the same time big, brother to Call of Duty: Call of Duty 2. Call of Duty 2 went on to the GOTY awards, nominated once again in several categories including GOTY 2005. Although Call of Duty 2 did not win any awards if you go to [...] and look at the 9th Annual Interactive Achievment Awards (GOTY awards), you will most likely understand, the competition was incredibly fierce, almost every game in the GOTY category are neck and neck.

Despite the fact that Infinity Ward did not bring home any trophies the second time around as I said earlier the competition was incredibly fierce, and almost every game were nexk and neck. So Call of Duty 2 is still a very very great game, one of the best out there.

Time for the review portion instead of the game's history. Infinity Ward did not use their own engine for Call of Duty, they used the engine from Quake 3. The engine fit perfectly but since Call of Duty was such a success Infinity Ward chose to create their own engine for the sequel, not to mention that the Quake 3 engine was getting pretty old. The Call of Duty 2 engine is groundbreaking and very good when it comes to the graphics. But since this is the first engine Infinity Ward has constructed on their own it is not perfect, there are some strange bugs which I will not go into detail about but they are there.

Call of Duty 2 was made with Dual Core Processors in mind. And in the equation of computers most likely a Dual Core Processor= High End Computers. This means that Call of Duty 2 will take a GIANT spoonfull out of your computer if you do not have sufficient hardware. The MINIMUM requirements are: A video card that is at LEAST DirectX9.0 compatible and is a 64mb version, teh English version of Windows 2000, or XP, a Pentum 4 1.4 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1700 processor or higher, 256mb RAM (512 recommended), a DerectX9.0 compatible 16-bit sound card with the latest drivers, Windows XP compatible mouse, and keyboard, 4 GB left on your hard drive, and a 8x Speed CD-ROM or 2x DVD-ROM. This is only MINIMUM! That could possibly be more than a giant spoonfull. Note that you do not need a Dual Core Processor to run this game. The lowest ATI video card you can have for this game is the ATI Radeon 8500, my video card: ATI Radeon 9600 barely runs this game good with high graphics. You will need a top of the line video card for this. For nVidia I think the least supported card is the nVindia GeForce 2 Ultra.

Gameplay- In Call of Duty 2 you will be spanning the three campaigns from Call of Duty 1 but the order of them is reversed and the new missions are all memorable. A good sized portion of Call of Duty's success came from it's intensity and it has returned this time, but now it is around four times larger. Let me explain to you the amount of intensity this game holds by telling you my first expieriance of a Call of Duty 2 mission. After the training level I was trying to defend positions south of a street in Russia. I came to a point where I and my comrades are held up in an apartment building with a blown out wall. Below me lies a few trenches that divide the line between the two factions. Enemy smoke grenades are laid out on the open field in front of me and my Lietenant warns me and my comrades not to take one step backwards for mother Russia. I grab a nearby Scoped Mosin Nagnant and aim down my scope. I suddenly hear the shouting of the Germans and they charge their way towards me, but I could not yet see them. Then they appeared and I began shooting down the Germans one by one but they were moving to fast so I jumped down into the trenches, which the enemy had now begun to breach, and I pulled out my PPSH41, I held down the trigger shooting at any German in sight, spraying all their bodies with bullets galore. During this combat I began having chest pains. Now, since that day I have not expierianced any chest pains, and I had never expierianced them while I was playing a game, so the chest pains may not have even been a result of the incredibly intense combat but who knows. One reason that the intensity of this game is so great has to do with the new Battle Chatter System built into the game. The Battle Chatter System is adding in the voices of your fellow soldiers but their dialoge is a lot more immeresed into the game. For example: instead of a few words here and there like, "Germans!" You get words more often and they are words that would be said on a battlfield like, "Krauts, to the southeast behind the tree!" Whenever teammates say where enemies are they are actually there too. I've even heard soldiers call each other by names, like, "Fleming, cover me I'm reloading." And those people who are being called are actually people you are fighting with. Other features include no healthbar, you just heal when you are taking cover, holding your breath while aiming down scopes, and alike.

Another thing that adds to intensity is obviously: Sound- The sound in this game is earth rumbling, and every gun shot will most likely be pleasing, and you can hear gunfights out in the distance that you cannot see. Maximum PC magazine said in their GOTY awards that the best excuse to buy 5.1 speakers is Call of Duty 2.

Music- I can not explain the music that easily, it is good, like the previous game. I especially like the music in the final level of Hill 400.

Complaints- The complaints about this game are really getting annoying but I will answer a few. One complaint is that the variety of this game is not that high: You go from capturing one town, then go defend the same town, get driven out of a town then retake it and alike and yes it is true that the variety of missions is pretty low, but hey, that was how W.W. II was those missions of W.W. II were fought. Another compaint is a single word: change. If you do not like change, I guess you will probably still be playing Call of Duty the original missing out on one of the best games out there, and even though there are changes they are still good changes, well most of them. If there are any changes you dislike find a mod website and go see if it can be fixed, or fix it youself. There was a change I did not like about Call of Duty 2, the change of clip size for the Thompson S.M.G., it was switched over to twenty shots instead of thirty but a mod was quickly released to fix it. So go ahead and buy it, even if you hate change because there are hundreds of mods out there that you can use, my favorite place for mods on Call of Duty 2 is filefront, they got thousands of mods.

Graphics- Incredible, that really sums up the graphics of this game, even at every thing on low it is still incredible what this game has in grahics, they do not reach the greatness of games such as Half-Life 2, but are still very great.

I will leave the multiplayer side of things about this game to your own discovery.

For over an hour I have been typing about this groundbreaking game, this nominee for GOTY 2005. This is my second favorite game of all time next to Half-Life 2, the combination of those two games would be beyond extreme. Go ahead and read my review on Half-Life 2 for the Xbox, you will see that both these games are really good and both have at least nominated in the GOTY awards, Half-Life 2 won several GOTY awards.

I regret to say that I am ending my review but I am, I got to go out and hunt some Germans.

Great game, bad support [Posted on 2006-04-05]
CoD2 is definately a great WWII shooter, and a worthy addition to the CoD franchise. The graphics are encredible, single player is a blast, and you can get many hours out of just single player. Multiplayer in my opinion, is also very fun. The health regen system is similar to Halo 2's, so you don't have to worry about health packs(though there are mods that allow you to play it the old way with health packs), there is also a new feature for sniping that allows you to hold your breath to steady your aim, and it can be very helpfull. A few things about CoD2 that aren't as great is that Infinity Ward(Cod2 developer) took out many of the great features that they added to CoD:UO, vehicles, sprinting, grenade cooking, ect... Also their is currently a lack of support from IW regarding the release of the patch that was supposedly due early(January) of 2006, the patch delay has caused many CoD2 players to switch over to different games. All in all, Call of Duty 2 is a great game, though it has its flaws, it is worth picking up.

blown away [Posted on 2006-06-03]
'Intense' does not begin to describe this game. When I first started playing, it seemed like just another WWII shooter. Then once I got to the second mission and saw dozens of Nazis charging at our trench with bullets and mortar flying everywhere and watching a fellow soldier being shot by a bullet that flew just inches over my head, I realized what all the hype was about. This isn't your average WWII shooter. It gives you a sense of realism I had never experienced before in a WWII shooter. The AI in this game is incredible. Although not quite human-like, you're allied soldiers are always there when you need them. And the enemies are downright scary. They will hide behind anything they can use as cover, waiting for just the right time to pop out and bombard you with bullets and grenades. The graphics are stunning, and the PC version looks just as good as its Xbox 360 cousin. The levels are huge and somewhat open-ended. The sound effects just add to the experience, with bullets buzzing by one ear and allies shouting orders and cuss words in the other. And the online play couldn't be better.
