Call of Duty 2 for the Mac - Could It Get Any Better? [Posted on 2007-03-09] Not being a true "gamer" by any stretch of the imagination, I found this this game to be an exhilarating experience. It truly makes one deeply appreciate what the soldiers of WWII sacrificed for our freedom and appreciative of the fact that I did not have to experience the real thing. I hope there are more in the Call of Duty series of games made available for the Macintosh.
Nice shooter [Posted on 2007-05-14] The game plays great, sound effects and visuals are very good too. I haven't played the entire game, however until now the only thing which I think is missing is being able to choose the axis side, until now I've only played as an ally.
Call of Duty 2 Mac DVD [Posted on 2007-09-26] Great gameplay, great graphics, overall awesome game. Takes a good amount of time to beat on Veteran, and very replayable. I have a Macbook 13" white with Duo intel with intel graphics card and it handles the game perfectly, even though the chipset isnt supported (not nvidia or ati).
The only problem for me was the multiplayer component. Loading times were terrible and I could never find a good server without waiting for 20 minutes for the server to download the neccessary packages. dont really play multiplayer now because it so boring to wait
Everything else was good. If you like action and ducking behind oil barrels forever while the enemy surges all around you, this game is for you. Buy this game if you have a top Mac and you are playing around with Garageband and you are in need of some explosions
Great great great [Posted on 2007-10-30] Great game. If you like first person shooters and like history then you have no choice but to buy this game. I do have a couple of quibbles though:
1. The game is too easy. There are four difficulty levels; if you play "Regular" this game is a cakewalk. Start with the second hardest and then play it again on its highest difficulty setting.
2. It's really nice that you're not running around picking up health packs, something I've always found completely asinine. Instead, if you are shot, you simply find some cover, stay out of the fight for a few seconds, and you'll recover. This is dumb. I guarantee if you are shot by an 8 mm Mauser round, ducking down in a trench for a couple secs ain't gonna make you feel any better.
3. I hate hate hate the compass in the lower left hand corner of the display. It shows the location of enemies, friendly soldiers and your current objective. If our soldiers had been equipped with such a device they would have been in Berlin before autumn 1944. I cover this thing with tape when I play.
But these are minor complaints so I only knocked off one star. This is easily the best FPS I have ever played. Love it.
A better version than the PC version. [Posted on 2008-01-13] I owned the pc version of this before I purchased the Mac version. The Mac version seems to be smoother and with less problems than the PC version. So, if your a Mac user, don't be afraid to purchase it!
The simulation is great and very realistic. If your running surround sound, you will hear the sounds of gun fire off in the distance which adds to the realism of the game.
Not only is this a great simulation, it also seems to be historically accurate. The weapons, uniforms, and artilery are very accurately recreated.
I would definitely buy this again!
