I purchased this scanner because my old combination scanner/color printer died of old age (at least the power supply did). It does everything I expect - with very high resolution and unexpected software that makes it useful by infrequent computer users in my house. The only suggestion I have is that if you don't use Outlook, you may find it difficult to use the scan to e-mail feature (e.g., I couldn't use it with AOL mail). If it doesn't work with your normal e-mail utility, download/select Picasa2 as the e-mail method (Picasa2 e-mail works).

Purchased our first Mac and found our older CanoScan would not work. First tried an Epson as replacement but this was problematic with our Mac so we returned it and purchased the Canon. Works as advertised. Installation easy. The buttons are a great improvement compared to our older scanner which was only driven. Operation is very easy.
