Photo Paper Pro results at a standard Photo Paper price. [Posted on 2005-03-16] My father and I have been using the Photo Paper Pro line of Canon paper for some time now and have noticed a quality increase over the standard Photo Paper Glossy line. However, we have always been limited to either the standard gloss finish or the not so standard matte finish (which is quite good). These two types of paper are at opposite ends of the spectrum and are a bit extreme for certain prininting needs. So, when printing on the seemingly limited line of semi-gloss papers, both my father and I were very suprised at the Photo Paper Pro quality of this rather inexpensive paper. In addition, the balance between matte and gloss is exceptional. We both wish Canon would put out this semi-gloss version in all their standard larger sizes- and not just the 4" x 6" version.
In short, this particular Canon paper is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Excellent and approachable [Posted on 2005-11-19] I've always preferred a matte finish as opposed to glossy. While the Canon Paper Pro glossy paper is excellent, I think I'm one of the few out there who is less than impressed with their matte paper. However, when I discovered the semi-gloss line, I wanted to try it right away. The results were outstanding! The images were sharp and bright. The colors did not bleed unnecessarily like the matte paper. The semi-glossy finish gives it an inviting look, perfect for black and white photos, postcards, or sharing snapshots.
Excellent, Versatile, Good Price [Posted on 2006-07-15] The nice, light lustre finish makes a good compromise between glossy, without annoying reflections, and matte, offering some extra saturation and snap. This is very good paper, at an affordable price. They feel like drugstore prints from 35mm negatives, but look much better.
I used a Canon Pixma iP4000, and the results greatly exceeded my expectations, printing shots from a Canon 350D with good glass. My previous experience was with an Epson Stylus Photo 870 and various Epson, Pictorico, or International "freephotopaper.com" papers.
This is my first choice for any 4x6 photos I print. I would use a good matte paper as a second choice, especially for 8x10s that may be framed under glass.
You can't miss with this paper. It's one of the very best I have used over nine years of printing images at home.
I LOVE this paper [Posted on 2007-03-07] This is excellent, relatively inexpensive photo paper. I don't believe it comes in any other sizes which is a shame, I would love to have it in 5x7 or 8x10. I had been using the Canon Glossy paper, which is also good paper but I find it to be almost to shiny for my taste. I often frame my better pictures and put them on the wall and the glossy paper just has to much reflection from ambient light which makes it difficult to see the picture. Problem solved with this paper. It does not have a shine but a sheen which adds a nice bit of depth and added color saturation to your print. I have been using it with my Canon Pixma 4200 and could not be happier. The pictures you print on this paper also dry noticibly faster than on the glossy or super glossy paper. PLUS semi gloss paper is also much more fingerprint resistant than the glossy paper. Highly recommended.
The finish is much nicer then full Glossy!! [Posted on 2007-11-25] I have always printed on Canon paper with my PIXMA IP8500. Having just replaced my printer with the Canon PRO9000 I purchased a variety pack of paper that included this line of paper. I still have quite a bit of Photo Paper Plus Glossy to use up, but as soon as I have used it all I will be switching to semi-gloss. The photos just look more professional.
