Excellent scanner, very versatile [Posted on 2007-11-01] This is an excellent scanner. You can scan straight into jpg, adobe acrobat, img files and much more. I scanned my whole picture collection as well. It is relatively fast but definitely not for commercial use. For a personal scanner it does everything well.
Broke after 13 months [Posted on 2007-12-02] Worked wonderfully for 13 months. I was pleased with all the functions and software, especially the OCR.

CaonScan 8400F crappy [Posted on 2008-01-17] A recently bought CanoScan 8400F. When scanning in any of the color modes a yellow stripe develops along the right side of the scan. Re-installing the drivers does not work. Canon says repair. The repair costs more than the actual price of the unit, therefore avoid Canon scanners as the PLAGUE
