DEAD in the WATER - even with Expert Assistance [Posted on 2005-12-03] I nearly went nuts trying to get this thing to work after buying it. I thought the problem must have been with my Dell Dimension older computer so I packed it away for a couple of months. Later, I took it into my office and asked the IT department to install it on my state of the art work computer (I didn't have a scanner at work at the time). After 3 hours of trying they handed it back over to me and gave me a Canon customer service name/email address -- so basically two IT team members couldn't figure it out. I followed up with Toshiba with a few back and forth emails... but after all of that, blood pressure rising, I was actually ready to throw it out the window. Being a pack rat, however, I think it's packed away under my bed. Wish I had returned it - but too much time had passed. If you have any sound advice on this machine please let me know.
Great portable scanner [Posted on 2005-12-06] I have had a LiDE20 for about 2 years. I use it with my Toshiba lap top. It gives a geat scan and the multi scan function is really a time saver when scanning snap shots etc. J Barton, Westminster Co 12/05
Small Size + Functionality + Low Price [Posted on 2005-12-12] I haven't read up on scanners much lately, but at the time I bought this one a couple of years ago, it was a perfect low price, thin, and lightweight scanner that worked very well for basic tasks. It still works great on the rare occasions I use it to scan snapshots, simple drawings, or text. Although another family member did have trouble getting it to work with one of our computers, I have personally never had a problem. If you can get a good deal on a used one, I'd say to go for it.
