WOW [Posted on 2008-03-03] This is an amazing machine for the price. I've only been using it a few days, but I've made a lot of copies. I had not realized how handy it is to have a sheet-feeder. I've been copying legal-size paper -- not scannable on the scanner platform on most copiers, including this one -- but with a whir, it sucks the legal page right in, and reduces it to fit on 8.5"x11". Really convenient.
And, with the instant-on function, it is, as the other reviewer pointed out, ready to go instantaneously. You push the "power saver" button to turn it on, and it's ready to go in less than a second. Then you hit the button again, it powers down, and sits ready to be used at a moment's notice next time. Very impressive and convenient. And the copy quality is fabulous.
Another plus with this unit is that it comes with a FULL toner cartridge; most of these "deals" in "all-in-ones" (or, "some-in-ones," as I call them) really only have TEASER prices because they come with an only partially filled toner cartridge that must be replaced in short order. Not so with this one. Full load!
Honestly, I haven't hooked it up to the computer yet, but I'll post more about how that works when I do so. I have just been so thrilled with the copy functions (reduce/enlarge, etc.) and print quality that I wanted to get a 5-star review up ASAP. I am rarely impressed this much with peripherals, but this one is a no-brainer-buy, from my perspective.
Great little copier [Posted on 2008-04-20] This copier is simply amazing. It, along with non-feeder model, start up QUICKLY (NO warm-up time) and produce great copies. In fact, I liked the first one so much (the non-feeder model) that I bought a second. You can't go wrong.
Canon D340 Digital copier Laxer Printer [Posted on 2008-09-06] We purchased this copier for my mother-in-law's home use. It was easy to set-up, takes little space, and is very to use. The copies come out clear. She is extremely pleased with it and recommends it to her friends.
A Great Value [Posted on 2008-10-01] I selected this copier/printer based on price, features and the Canon name. I felt like I got "Oh such a deal" at the time I bought mine in Sept.08. It was painless to set up: install the software; plug in the USB cable (not provided) when prompted and click and Voila! I set it up as a shared printer and it is now the main printer in our 4 PC home network.
- Its quick
- Makes clear, clean copies
- Not as quiet as some when printing but definitely not loud
- Top sheet feeder works well, even for multiple sheets
- Toner cartridge was a breeze to install
- Enters and exits its "sleep" mode flawlessly, even from another PC on the network
- Comes with a FULL TONER CARTRIDGE, not a starter. For those who do not know about this: many new printers, especially when being sold at LOW prices, are sold with a toner cartridge that's only good for a few hundred copies at most. Just enough to get you started on day one and to give you time to go buy a "real" toner cartridge. This is often how the mfg's will move more units, by selling them at super-low prices knowing they will make their profits on you returning for toner.
With the rebate I couldn't pass this up, although if I were paying full retail I would have chosen one that also scans to the PC. This one DOES NOT. It is only a printer and copier. I would also consider one that has a Print server and NIC built-in IF I could also connect directly for scanning.
I would recommend this printer.
