Best bang for the buck [Posted on 2008-07-14] Got this camera to capture pics for my trip to my home country and also for my marriage. Purchased the camera after lot of reviews at amazon and other camera review sites. I gave this to my brother so he could capture pics of our family on their trips, he enjoys using it for the quality and ease of use. If you are looking for an inexpensive and good camera this is a good choice.
A Little Camera with limitations [Posted on 2008-07-15] I wasn't going to write a review of this camera until I had more time to use it; however, I quickly discovered a significant weakness which I think people should be aware of before they buy one. Apparently the camera has little or no buffer memory. In addition to the long recovery time after a flash which has been mentioned by others, there is a big delay between shots. And it is not minor. Evidently the processor has to write directly to the card. I spent yesterday afternoon putting the camera through its paces and I was quite taken aback by this problem. I was repeatedly frustrated as I tried to take a series of shots quickly. The zoom is also frozen each time until the write is completed. Anyone used to a modern DSLR is in for a big surprise. My experience was duplicated by a friend with his 720. A fast card is very desirable, but it won't solve the problem (I used one). Otherwise, I have been pleased with the camera, and it seems to meet my basic requirement for a camera I can throw in my jacket pocket and take with me everyday. It will just require a more deliberate approach. I will soon be going to Europe and after I get back and recover from jet lag, I will write more.
What is with these prices? [Posted on 2008-07-16] $345 for this camera from Toyzz when the MSRP is $199?!? I just bought this from Dell Home for $170 with free shipping. I wouldn't be telling you all this if it actually came from Amazon, because Amazon wouldn't mark it up like this.
I needed a small, pocketable camera to keep in my car when I don't feel like lugging around lenses and my DSLR. It's terrific.
good camera, bad software [Posted on 2008-07-19] This is my fourth Canon camera and it is a good camera. However, the software that they provide to download the pictures is terrible. It is much worse than the software that came with every other Canon camera that I have purchased. I recommend buying a different Canon camera just for this reason.
Canon PowerShot A720IS [Posted on 2008-07-19] Great camera, good buy. Takes nice crisp pics and has no noticeable lag time. Easy tool for removing red eye. I agonized over which camera to get and am extremely happy with this one.
