Black jet quit just after a year [Posted on 2006-06-27] Bought this printer to replace my old Lexmark printer that lasted about 4 years. Just after a year of printing with the Canon, I would say I did well under 100 prints, the black jet just quit on me.
I called Canon and they told me to buy another one. They offered me 10% off on their web site, which they admit was at least 20% higher than any where else.
Stay away from Canon printers!!!
Printer was good when it worked! [Posted on 2006-11-23] I had the S750 for a while and it worked great. The color print on plain paper was fast and accurate. It wasn't a photo printer but it did a decent job of printing photos on photo paper. I recently started using an off brand ink carts and had good results until the black stopped working. I deep cleaned and aligned the heads, tried everything to clean the clog, but no luck. I thought the non-Canon inks caused the problem but reading from these posts it looks like a weak print head design was the cause. Since buying a new print head was almost the cost of a new printer I chose to replace the Canon, and let me tell you it wasn't another Canon printer! I love Canon cameras but no more Canon printers for me.

Good for a few years, but now dead [Posted on 2007-03-17] Thanks for all the other reviews about the print head failing. This printer was pretty good to me over the past 4 years, both for b/w and color photo printing. But now print head is dead. Incidentally, this coincided with change to off-brand ink cartridges so this could be an issue with these printers, or it could've just been bad timing. Canon will replace the print head for $48. Think I'll get the HP6210 for $100 instead!
Best printer ever owned [Posted on 2008-01-11] I work in a small office and this Canon works great! The cartridges last awhile and are cheap compared to others. This printer is covering all of our office printing that is color (brochures, labels, etc); we have had it for 4+ years and have never had a problem. For the amount of jobs it does, it has lasted incredibly long compared to other printers. It now has a print head issue, and I am sad to see it go. I am even looking at buying the same printer again. It prints fast; thick paper is not an issue. Being an inkjet compared to laser jet though, with large detailed pictures or items with lots of ink on it, it does take a few seconds to dry; but I dont print lots of those, so I dont mind. This printer has been used every single day at least 5 times for 4 years, and it just now has an issue; not bad considering some of the jobs I send to it are 200 pages and such. I would recommend it to anyone
