Customer Reviews:

Professional quality photo prints!! [Posted on 2004-07-31]
I did tons of research on highest rated photo printers and agree that this printer is on par with professional photo lab prints. I chose this one over the HP 7960 because of the warmth and richness of photos and individual ink tanks (a money saver). Also, there were other reviewers selecting the Canon over the HP. This printer was also recommended as a "quick pick" by Consumer Reports magazine. I look forward to going from the Canon Photo Paper Pro to the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy for even prettier pictures (so I am told by lab techs who claim high gloss produces best results). I am extremely pleased now, and can't wait to try out an even better photo paper by Canon on this printer. Such a deal!!

Excellent Printer Excellent Service [Posted on 2004-08-01]
I purchased the i900D through Amazon. In terms of printing, it was flawless. Very pleased with the photos, speed, dB, software, the whole nine yards! However after about a week the LCD screen on the printer developed a solid black line down the middle of it. I contacted Canon Support and within 72 hours another i900D was delivered to my home. In addition they provided all the necessary pre-paid labels to return the defective one. All I needed to do was to call the carrier for home pickup. It could not have been easier.

So when considering any electronic purchase, think about the quality of service that supports the product. Today that is becoming more and more an issue. In this case, at least, Canon came through 100%

Excellent printer... ink is a pain though... [Posted on 2004-08-19]
The Canon i900D is an outstanding photo printer. I purchased this printer some months ago after comparing printers for awhile.

This printer shares a shell with the i8xx and i9xx series of printers. The features vary, but this printer has the ability to do both direct printing from your digital camera and memory cards as well as from your computer. The setup and software are super easy to install and use and you'll be up and printing your first pictures in minutes.

And the prints! Photos printed on this printer are outstandingly crisp, with beautiful color. Quality photo paper produces prints that are indistinguishable from "real" photos. Printing is fast and the provided software lets you organize prints on any size paper easily and efficiently. Way to go Canon!

There are some downsides to this printer. The add-on drawer for photo-sized paper (like 5x7) is very cheesy and gets stuck easily. It doesn't work all that well for me either, although I rarely use it. And then there is ink...

This printer uses six tiny separate cartridges. No store locally stocks all six, so stock up on cartridges. The Canon cartridges are expensive (eleven bucks each...a bit cheaper on Amazon) and run out at different rates. The software will warn you when a tank is running low. On my printer this happens just before it runs out altogether. So keep the cartridges handy. (One nice touch with the ink tanks is that they are clear so you can actually see the ink level: no more wasted ink because the printer thinks the cartridge might be empty!!)

Otherwise, I'm very happy with this printer and recommend it highly.

Lemon? [Posted on 2005-03-17]
I have bought my canon printer i900D three months ago
I was not able to print not even one page
Canon customer service concluded that it was a defective printer head
They send me one
I installed it and again, Nothing
I finally gave up on it
I am in the Bahamas and to send it back thru customs etc is nearly impossible and very costly

Now I am just discussing my experience with friends and Amazon potential buyers
Hopefully they will avoid trying Canon Printers for their own shake unless thsi model is a lemon alltogether as Canon's clerk said that he is experiencing a lot of calls about this i900d

Short lived [Posted on 2006-01-24]
When it worked it was a great printer. It died on me 20 days out of the one year warranty. Won't print a thing now. If you buy this printer, better get an extended warranty. Canon has left a bad taste in my mouth.
