Excellent espresso and foaming; great price [Posted on 2008-12-07] My husband purchased the Capresso mini S-4 espresso/cappuccino machine for me as a gift. I am delighted with this product! I use it every day and threw out my regular drip coffee maker as the coffee this product makes is far superior.
I recommend that first time espresso / cappuccino machine users pay close attention to the directions because although the machine is easy to use and clean, you will get much better results if you read the directions! For safety's sake, please ensure you pay attention to the manual section about the boiler. You could seriously burn yourself if you open the top of the espresso maker without letting all of the steam out. There is tremendous steam pressure inside the machine when it is operating.
This mini espresso maker produces wonderful results and I have been extremely pleased with this product.
I am especially impressed with the foaming / steaming arm - it makes the perfect "mousse" type foam for perfect cappuccinos. The machine certainly has enough "oomph!" and steam pressure - I am impressed.
I am very, very happy with the product and I have said "thank you" to my husband many times since receiving this gift!
A flavorful and aromatic espresso that I recommend with this machine is Cafe Bustelo. Cuban coffee is awesome! It's also not very expensive, tastes great and is a good value. I recommend Horizon Organic 2% milk as it emulsifies well and creates impressive "crema" or mousse for cappuccinos. It also tastes great and has an awesome mouthfeel. Very rich and makes beautiful lattes and cappuccinos! I also sprinkle organic cinnamon powder on top of my cappuccinos before serving. Smells and tastes wonderful!
a good choice [Posted on 2008-12-08] I liked Capresso's electric tea pot so I thought I'd try their expresso machine. It's better than Mr. Coffee's. Easy to use and clean, except for the frother. I decided to microwave the milk and use a mixer-foamer (whatever you call those things), then add the coffee. Not a purist but it works for me. Only "problem" is that it's easy to forget to turn the machine off. I had left it on all day and am happy to say it didn't burn up or burn my house down. And still works fine.
Good Intro to Espresso Machine [Posted on 2008-12-20] First time espresso maker here. I spent about an hour reading the instructions and figuring out how it all works. There was a cd-rom included but I didn't watch it. I was surprised at how quickly and easily espresso was made - once I figured out how to make it. After reading several reviews for other machines I expected it to be alot more work. 2 1/2 minutes and I have great espresso. Another 30 seconds I have a cappuchino or latte. Add another 30 seconds for cleanup. Definitely beats the 5 minute drive to Starbucks. I was surprised at how compact this machine is and how well the frother works too. Everything I've read has said that pump frothers are better but as long as I use a shallow cup the milk foams right up. My only complaint is that I burned myself on the metal tube with the first use of the frother. Lesson learned.
Must Buy [Posted on 2008-12-24] I have had this machine for a month now and I just love it, it's easy to use and it makes a great esspesso with the help of Starbucks products! Clean up is easy too, the frother works great, and everything is the prefect size.
capresso mini espresso [Posted on 2008-12-27] does a good job for the price! def. helps saving money from going to starbucks!
