The Capresso Infinity is a sensible, easy-to-use burr grinder. Matching the fineness of your grind to your espresso machine is a simple matter of trial and error; written instructions give a good first-guess at which of its 16 grinds to try. In this house, we make drip coffee and espresso. We're pleased with the better flavor of a burr-ground bean and have re-purposed our blade-grinder for herbs. We opted for the brushed metal finish on our Capresso which will look great on the counter longer than plastic. On sale, the few extra dollars were worth it. Both the sound of grinding and the few coffee grounds on the counter top seem 'normal' to us.

I never knew that the grinder could make so much difference in the coffee. We thought our coffee was ok before but now we are drinking GOOD coffee. Same coffee beans, same coffee maker. WOW!
Great grind, slight inconveniences [Posted on 2008-12-22]
First the great stuff; this moderately priced little grinder gives you a nearly perfect, uniform grind in any setting from coarse to ultra-fine. You will need to experiment a little before you know just how many seconds it takes to grind the perfect dose for your French press, drip machine, espresso machine, etc., but once you have that down, it's a one-knob operation.
The inconvenience comes when you want to grind a different kind of bean. Say you like dark roast and your partner likes something shy of full city. The hopper cannot be removed without all the beans falling out the bottom, so there's no way to buy a second hopper and just switch it in. You need to invert the whole grinder over a bowl to remove the beans, then dust out the grinds with a small brush (provided). Fortunately my partner doesn't drink coffee at all, so it's not an issue, but if it were, I can almost see getting a 2nd unit rather than doing that every day, or finding one with a swappable hopper.

I roast a lot of coffee and needed to be able to grind larger amounts than my flat burr grinder would do, without over heating. This conical burr does the trick for that. Nice consistant grinds. Two drawbacks; Much static electricity, not sure how to get around that one, I think they all would cause it. Now if you just grind one load it is not bad, I grind many loads back to back and that is when the static builds up. The grounds hopper tends to wander out as grinding, I put a rubber band around it to keep it in place, wouks well. Not as easy to clean as my flat burr grinder, but does clean fairly well. Read directions, be careful re-assembling after cleaning. Customer service is great, I called twice for some minor issues, they were curtious.
