I am Very Satisfied !! [Posted on 2001-03-27] I just Bought the Thinmodem about 4weeks ago ,and I have to say I am V/Satisfied with the preformance, I used my local ISP and it works fine ,also The Web Browsing works pretty good and I log onto Hotmail to send and recieve E-mails ,the web environment takes a little bit to get used to but you figure it out pretty quick, also the web site Mapquest works fine when you are traveling . I like to keep in touch Using ICQ on my Visor The Instalation of the Thinmodem was a No Brainer that was a Plus !! Overall I think you will enjoy using the Thinmodem and the convenience of using your Visor for surfing, Information or doing Buisness work on the web ! " It's a good toy for your toy hehe :-P and a great conversation starter ! "
It just works [Posted on 2001-08-27] I needed an inexpensive, reliable wireline modem for my Visor. After seeing a collegue struggle with the well-documented battery problems with the Xircom, I bought the Thinmodem, and I've been very happy. This modem is easy to set up, includes good software (MultiMail is more functional than the included E-mail package, but this works just fine for simple text messages), and handles noisy phone lines without problems. The modem is sold as 33K, but once you buy it, run-don't walk- to the manufacturer's website for the free firmware upgrade to 56K. I wish I'd gotten the thinModem Plus -- A great value with 8M of memory included.
Tip for using the Thinmodem [Posted on 2001-12-31] My Thinmodem works great but I had some difficulty with Blazer and other web and mail programs. When I found Eudora, however, I deleted all those other modem programs. Eudora works easily and is easy to learn; it has better features than Blazer and is free. If you're satisfied with your modem programs, good for you, but if you haven't chosen modem programs, try Eudora.
Great product [Posted on 2002-01-13] I got my Thinmodem [and it] is a great deal! Anyways, it performs great. The only two drawbacks are that 1) even though i have flashed it to the latest version that supports 56k, mine connects at 28.8. I have emailed the company inquiring about this though. 2) It requires a special adapter to connect rather than the standard RJ-11 plug plugging directly into the springboard. Therefore, I can't simply carry around my visor. If I intend on using the modem, I'd have to take an extra cable which i tend to forget to do. It really comes in handy to be able to check email, browse the web, and even get on AIM when I have access to a phone line away from home.
