Flimsy Headset [Posted on 2008-08-12] The 700 was better than the 500 but less comfortable. However the sound quality was so good my wife also bought one. The biggest problem we had at first was bending the ear piece to be at least moderately comfortable.
My wife's headset fell apart (literally) one day. She still uses it but holds it together with rubber bands. A couple months later, mine also fell apart. Unfortunately, mine hit the ground after breaking in two and stopped working. Neither of us dropped our headsets; they just came apart at the seam.
If it didn't have such good sound and work well for voice dialing, the discomfort and flimsiness would have me lowering it another star or two.
A good bluetooth headset for the budget minded [Posted on 2008-08-21] Pros: I bought this item a few years back. Most of the time it produces excellent sound. It's light weight and easy to operate. Two controls pressed together or separately in various combinations do it all.
Cons: Sturdiness - I accidentally dropped my Scala 700lx and it split right down the plastic mold's seam. Since then, I've held it together with a bit of clear scotch tape. It continues to give me service until I upgrade.
I just don't kno [Posted on 2008-10-01] I received the product and it didn't work at all. Wouldn't charge. Wouldn't turn on. Just not in working condition. Very disappointed.
Cardo Systems Scala Ear Piece [Posted on 2008-10-09] I ordered twice, and both products did not charge or work according to the instructions.
Somthing's Wrong With This Unit [Posted on 2008-10-11] I perchased a SCALA 500 years ago... Loved it! Lost it. Went to Amazon to replace the 500. I was pleased that they were still making them and ordered another one. I saw that the company had a newer SCALA 700LX. A little smaller, sleek design, thought I would buy one for my travels. When I received it, I charged it for the number of hours as discribed in the owner's manual. It would not come on. It simply would not work. The only mode that would activate was the sync mode. I was able to sync up to my Razor phone, but the headset simply would not turn on to link to the phone for normal use. Sent it back for replacment. The second one - same thing... it simply would not turn on. I sent it back. Although the company was good about taking the units back and giving me credit, I'm out about $18.00 in return shipping.
I would recommend staying with the SCALA 500 until they figure out what is wrong with the newer model. The 500, in my opinion, the most comfortable multifeatured, on the ear, headset out there. The secret is the ear loop goes THROUGH the untit and has friction. Once you put it on, you press it to your ear and it doesn't move. No flopping around, no falling off. And for under $40.00.
