The product should have these features advertised in Amazon's product description (a) 400 dpi resolution with 64 shades of gray (b) Powered by rechargeable battery pack and (c) Works with IrDA devices. But the print head is a rotating drum of fixed characters and can't print dots nor gray, it works off a power cube and x4 penlight batteries but does not have an internal rechargeable battery and worst of all, for me, it doesn't have an IrDA port. I can't beam printouts to it from my Treo. Not important to me, but others might need the parallel interface to a PC, it doesn't have one of those either.
Amazon quickly sent a replacement when I complained about the missing features -- but it was the same product with all the same missing features. I had to call their unpublished "Amazon" "Customer Service" "number" (Google it) to get things sorted out. They're efficient when you get them on the phone. Complex returns like this are hard to handle via their returns website.

Bear in mind this calculator is set-up to do tax work and currency conversions. Nice features if you need them, otherwise, there may be a cheaper alternative, but this one was a great price.

The Casio HR-8TEPlus is a lot slower than its grandfather. My grandson wanted a new calculator, so I gave him my old Casio and bought this new one. Big mistake. The action is slower - you can't set an automatic "A" decimal for adding money and there is no clear explanation of how to use the alternate keys. I like the older model better.
Printing calculator disappoints [Posted on 2008-02-29]
I bought this to replace the similar Canon model which I finally wore out after years of service. I was disappointed when the Casio lacked the ability to automatically place the decimal point before the last two digits. This is a real time saver when working with dollars and cents computations.
The worst disappointment was the print failure. Using my large roll of paper on the hanger or the small roll mounted internally, the paper feed jam warning pops up constantly and each time it does my current figures are lost. After multiple failures with both paper feeds I gave up on the printing and just did my calculations one by one. As soon as I can get to the office supply this thing is going in the trash can. The printing feature is the primary reason to buy a device such as this, and this one fails miserably.
Very Disappointing [Posted on 2008-06-12]
This calculator is not like your typical 2 decimal one. It leaves the numbers in 8.5 instead of $8.50 format. I found no why to make it calculate normally. Wouldn't by it again. I should return it but it just a hassle to do so. I really, really hate it. If you are look for the normal adding machine type circulator you will be very disappointed with His one as well. I like that it prints on paper like the ad says but there is more to being a good adding machine than that. You have been warned.
