Bad product doesn't work at first time [Posted on 2008-04-06] The external hard drive doesn't works at first time, I'm from Venezuela the cost for returns it is too expensive for me and I forget return it from Venezuela, I opened it and see the internal of this divice, the hard drive is barracuda seagate remanufactured and I prove it in my pc and doesn't worked, don't spend your money, the internal hard drive is remanufactured.
Works Great, Easy Setup [Posted on 2008-04-06] It worked right out of the box. I just plugged into a USB and my system instantly recognized it. I haven't had any problems with it yet. I used this to back up some files (My Music and My Documents etc.) while going through a system upgrade. If I could change anything it would be the size of the AC adaptor and maybe dim the blue lit a bit. It comes with a little detachable plastic base so you can set it up vertically or horizontally. Overall absolutly worth the price. It seems alot of reviews say they have problems with Macs. I have a problem with Macs and people who use Macs, so I would ignore their complaints!
Cavalry External Hard Drive [Posted on 2008-04-14] Plug and Play - works great, running Win XP.
Was able to move all of my photos, video, large slideshow files, and music onto the drive without a hitch.
It is a little slower retrieving files than the hard drive on my pc, but I am very glad I purchased the drive.
Only drawback might be that it has a powercord. Some of the other models I considered drew power from the USB port.
Good [Posted on 2008-04-27] Plugged it in as soon as I got it and it has worked great since.
Works flawlessly on XP box. [Posted on 2008-05-05] I would have given this 5 stars had I not attempted to use this forst on a Vista box. My 2nd computer is set up in my shop exclusively for photo and video projects. It's not connected to the internet, so I periodically take it home to update Windows (Vista). When I got the Cavalry device, my most recent update was about two weeks old. The brand new Dell running on Vista just refuses to recognize this unit. I was about to send it back, when I decided to try it on my older Gateway XP box at home. Of course, it worked flawlessly... It was immediately recognized by XP.
If I knew for certain that Vista was the culprit, I'd give this unit 5 stars.
For what it's worth, I like the on/off switch. Some of my older drives never power down unless I pull the plug. Some newer drives recognise when the computer is calling for them and power on/off accordingly. Too slowly for my Vista box however. I prefer the control of powering on and off myself.
For the price, you can't go wrong with this unit - at least on an XP box.
