Good & Bad News [Posted on 2008-09-18] The Clickfree HD701 worked as advertised. The good news is that after plugging it in (and that's all you do) it went ahead and backed up over 7000 files in under twenty minutes. It appears that restoring or moving those files is just as simple. Now the bad news. After having a problem updating the software, I contacted product support. My phone call ("leave a message and we'll get back to you") as well as an email were not returned. This is a good product, but if you need support you may be on your own.
Automatic Backup [Posted on 2008-09-24] worked great the first time. What a convenience to have my wife back up her lap top without having to deal with complex program interface. No files, folders or programs to select or deselect. Just plug it in and it gets done quickly and easily.
Clickfree automatic backup [Posted on 2008-10-09] Clickfree works as well as the review in our local paper said it would. I had experienced difficulty with a Maxtor unit and could never get it to back up everything, although it clearly had the capacity to do so.
Exceelent product [Posted on 2008-10-09] It works as easy as advertised. It takes a little time the first back-up session, but after that it's quick and easy.
Not quite as easy as advertised. [Posted on 2008-10-10] I had a problem getting the device to autostart and had to have technical support help to get the system started. The device will not copy files from an external drive. My external drive is the location for the majority of my backup. I have to copy from the external drive backup files to the C drive and then copy my files. After going through these steps the device worked as I expected.
