One of The Best Games Ever [Posted on 2003-11-25] I never liked strategy games but this one is different. Great graphic with blood and corpses when you bomb or kill your enemies. Gets harder as you play but if you plan out your assault then you'll definately win the mission. Great music and reminds me of the creatures game music.. same company..
Tiberian Sun is still the best of the C&C/Red Alert series! [Posted on 2004-03-20] When it comes to single-player (solo) gaming, Tiberian Sun is the best of the C&C/Red Alert series! Why? Let me count the reasons. Tiberian Sun missions are the most varied and interesting. It isn't all about building up a base and destroying the enemy's base. When you play as a GDI or NOD, you think one side really is superior (I thought GDI was until I realized NOD had better defensive base capabilities). The units & vehicles were really ahead of its time when you compare the game to RA or RA2. And lastly, TS really was harder for me compared to the other series. When it comes to multi-player (online) gaming, I imagine that TS is the best to play with too, although I imagine that NOD gets played an overwhelming amount due to its superior defensive base technologies and offensive weapons (stealth, artillery, destructive chemical weapons, lasers, burrowing, etc). The only good thing I can think about GDI is if someone gets to build too many bombers, then GDI will attrition NOD to death.
Same as the original [Posted on 2005-02-17] Remember Command and Conquer, the real-time strategy that lets you build a base, a lot of units and rush the opposing force? You'd think the developers of the original would come up with some innovative game play for the sequel. While maybe they can, they didn't here. Not only is the game play unchanged, it suffers from a weak story, poor balancing and computer AI and several small problems.
The single player campaign story, what there is of it, is just a jumble of scenarios without much to tie them together. There are characters and things happen to them but but there isn't a story progression to follow. You fight over here, you fight over there, then it's the final battle. In fact I reached the end of the GDI campaign without realizing it. The live video cut-scenes should have helped create a rich back-story but writing this I can't remember any of it.
There are balance issues particularly with NOD units and structures. A NOD 'super laser' structure can destroy almost anything with one shot but the NOD artillery is completely unbalanced. With a long range and a big punch, the artillery is can wipe out any ground force, and is unstoppable even in small numbers as long as a small anti-air backup is nearby.
The computer is an easy opponent. It doesn't rush but sending units at piecemeal, a handful at a time. It doesn't protect it's harvesters either, once you locate them it's easy to cut-off the computer's resources. The computer showed some initiative just once: During a NOD scenario several GDI engineers rushed my base taking several of my structures. I was so surprised it nearly wiped me out but building a good perimeter stopped later rushes. In the scenarios that followed the engineer rush never happened again. I didn't try any higher difficulty levels, maybe the computer plays better there.
Large maps are hard to manage, the game tell you that an offscreen unit is lost but not where the unit is. Some scenarios seem designed to simply frustrate you with a huge map and a timed objective with no direction as to where to accomplish it. In the end the game is all about the mass rush, once you build 50 or medium strength units nothing the computer can't stop you. On the technical side this game ran perfectly on Windows 2000.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! [Posted on 2006-02-08] I don't care if you are a novice gamer, a weak gamer, gamer with poor taste, half blind gamer, have no discretion or discernment this game is totally rock'n awesome! Some don't know a good game when they see it but there's no mistaking one like this. I have played every single C&C game made so far and none disappoint, and that's a fact! Even for those who, like I said before, don't know a good one when they come across it. Tiberian Sun is so detailed and graphically amazing anyone who says they don't like it either never tried it or have an alterior motive, call me on this, I'll prove it. Yes, I do defend all the games that are far ahead of their time yet don't get due respect, especially if a goof gamer tries to run them down. I've noticed that a lot of people run down certain games b/c they aren't good enough to play them or smart enough and that's fine, everybody has their own style and strengths but don't trash a game just b/c you're no good. Don't listen to those in opposition to TS, it is worth whatever it takes to get and play. This is a strategy game that got me addicted to strategy games. The only problem I have with this one is that WS didn't create a sequel.
First time user [Posted on 2007-09-16] I first tried Command and Conquer Tiberian Wars at my brothers house. I tried to load that game, but my computer hardware was not adequate. So I ordered Tiberian Sun which is compatible with my hardware. Since I haven't played the Command and Conquer series much before, I don't have much to compare it to. But this game is loads of fun even if it is very frustrating. Even in Easy mode some of the levels are really difficult until you figure out the right strategy. I was forever on the destroy radar array level until I finally discovered there was a back way in. Anyway, the game is lots of fun and takes a lot of thinking to play.
