What you see is not what you get [Posted on 2006-10-16] Attention digital photographers who think that this unit will have a media card slot as shown in the photo above, and on the box of the Compaq SR2020NX. There isn't one. You will need to supply your own that will use one of the four usb slots. The Amazon review is accurate. If you need an inexpensive pc for email and word processing, this will be a good computer for you. If you want to edit photographs and multi-task, then you will need to beef up the memory from the supplied 512 mb. The 160 gb hard drive will probably fill up quickly.
The LightScribe optical drive performs well, but the LightScribe disks cost much more than alternative products. If you want to create a fancy label on a LightScribe disk, get ready for a coffee break as it will take 20 minutes to burn the disk.
Without a TV tuner, I don't see the advantage of having XP Media Center Edition. While the unit is advertised as being Windows Vista ready, it will not be a rocket with only 512 mb of memory.
great buy for the money [Posted on 2007-01-19] I bought this presario after much research "Consumer Digest" and reviews on [...]. I am not disappointed. It was easy to set up and the kids love it. I had to add a moniter 17" acer lcd flat screen, speakers and a new printer ( my old one an HP did not work after I added DSL and the technician at HP determined it was not a software issue) But I probably didn't spend much more than $[...]. Now my 17 and 14 year old can do their homework and research at home. They also are enjoying the computer with their new media toys (ipod and digital camera) I was able to upgrade from dial up to dsl and don't know how I survived without it. My advice before you buy a new system, do your homework know what you'll be using your computer for and then go for a brand you are sure of. Also check out prices on Amazon I saved [...] buying the printer from amazon over the HP site.
Great builder computer [Posted on 2007-03-14] I love this computer so far. I've updated it to 2 GB of Ram, it runs smoothly. I've had no problems whatsoever. Good buy.
