Product defective [Posted on 2007-02-08]
I was able to get the computer up and running, but the CD-DVD drive was defective and I had to return the computer to Amazon.

Excellent for price [Posted on 2008-02-19]
I have had this computer for a little over a year and have had no problems whatsoever! It is a workhorse of a PC, not only do I use it daily for going online, photo sharing & wordprocessing, my 5 year old is on it playing his edutainment games and online games and I also have a 15 year old son and his friends using it everyday for going online, uploading photos and music and downloading music onto his MP3. The computer is being used almost 24 hours a day and it still is like new! I would recommend it to anyone who needs a basic PC with some oomph! for a great price. I love the photo memory card slots & the light scribe technology on it. The only bummer is that a few days after I bought it all the PC's at the store I bought it at had Windows Vista on them, and mine has XP, I would have like to have had Vista, but no biggie, XP is a great OS. The only thing that has gone wrong on it is the keyboard, but that is mostly because it was used a lot and pop got spilled on it, so I replaced it and the mouse with wireless ones.
I give this PC 4 stars!!

Compaq Presario SR2030NX! [Posted on 2008-03-19]
I've had this computer for a little over a year now, (got it in December of 06) and it has been a pretty good computer. Decent out of the box, and will be great for 'casual users'. I have upgraded quite a few parts, but had used it about a year, prior to upgrading anything. Some things I've changed are the power supply, which I upgraded from the factory 250-watt, to a modular 500-watt. I've also upgraded the RAM, from 1GB, to it's maximum capacity of 2GB, and the CPU, and Video Card upgrades are on the way. Basically, I've upgraded about everything, but don't let that change your mind, this is still a great PC without any upgrades. If you're going to use it for basic things, such as browsing the internet, listening to music, and viewing photo's, you'll be fine. Playing games was "ok" on the onboard video, but I would highly recommend upgrading to at least a cheap 128MB card. I have a 128MB video card, from my brothers old computer, and it does work better than the onboard did. However, I play quite a few games, so I am getting a new video card, which is on its way, hence the need for a new power supply. The 9-in-1 card reader was nice, but seemed a little faulty for me. After using it a couple times, the card slot I used (memory stick pro duo) kind of stopped working. Don't know why, but I never bothered with getting it replaced. Shortly after that, the USB port included on the 9-in-1 card reader stopped working as well, though, this is likely because my nephew pull a USB cord out of it sideways, so I ended up just taking the card reader out, as I never used it. Another problem I've had with it recently, is that the front audio port stopped working, so no headphones in the front for me anymore. Also, for a period of about 2 weeks - 4 weeks, the front light was staying on when the computer was turned off (it's stopped now), but that was no biggie because I leave the computer on 24/7 anyway. When I purchased this computer, at office depot, it was about $600, but I'm sure you can get it much cheaper now. ($300-$400?) Anyway, a pretty good computer if you are just going to use it for basic operations, and don't plan to do extensive upgrading. Since the motherboard only has one PCI-E slot, you won't be able to get two 8800GT's or HD3870's, and SLi/X-Fire them, so if you plan on doing that, I would suggest going with a different computer, or building your own. I was going to build my own rig, but when I saw this I decided to go ahead with it. I got a free upgrade to Vista with mine, however, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to Vista until you can get either a rear fan added to the case, and can find a more adequate way to cool the machine. On the three attempts I installed Vista, I found myself having to restore back to XP, due to the fact that the system would overheat and crash. It could just be me, because I've added more RAM, a video card, and another hard drive, which helps heat the machine up, but hoping to get that fixed when my new processor and video card get here. My new power supply seems to create a better airflow than the factory power supply, and might go ahead and get a rear fan to help out. All in all, this system is very nice, and if you can find it for anywhere from $300-$400 I think you should go ahead and buy it. It is a little outdated, so for those of you wanting an up-to-date system, I would suggest trying to find a motherboard that can support anywhere from 4GB-8GB of RAM, and RAM speeds of 800MHz or higher, as this only supports 2GB of RAM at 533MHz. However, for the price I mentioned above, this system is a deal.
