Great Basic Computer [Posted on 2007-05-08]
The processor for this Vista machine is above par. Just add more memory and it is a great box for a home computer.

Great value for the price! [Posted on 2007-05-13]
I purchased 3 of these computers for my workplace, and they are performing wonderfully. Just add a stick of 512MB or 1G memory, and you're up and running. It has a respectable hard drive, a plenty adequate processor, a lightscribe DVD burner (great perk), USB in front and back, and plenty of room for expansion. All 3 set up easily and data transfer was simple, especially with the free PATA slot from the DVD drive (but with a SATA HD). With the prices the way they are (this had a $50 rebate), it makes much more sense to purchase one of these systems every 3 to 5 years, instead of trying to make a computer that's twice as expensive last twice as long. Kudos to Compaq for making an affordable but powerful computer tower.

Dont buy this. It is a peace of junck [Posted on 2007-10-12]
I bought this and I wanted to downgrad to XP. I can not find any drivers for and I called hp and they are bunch of idiot and they did not help me at all.

They told I have to call microsoft.

Its a real dog! [Posted on 2008-01-18]
Bought this PC before we knew how much of a resource hog Vista is. Let me tell you that this PC and Vista are really, really doggy. I haven't had such slow response since the days of slow modems.

In the first place, the 2 x 256 Megs of RAM are acceptable for XP but not for Vista. The amount of memory paging is awful. The hard drive light flickers constantly from all the paging going on.

This PC would work well with Ubuntu Linux, and acceptably with XP, but with Vista -- snore!

New computer [Posted on 2008-04-11]
This unit came loaded with Windows Vista, which presents a whole set of challenges, a little quirky, adjusting to the new OS. However, it didn't have enough memory to run it! We had to buy and install more memory just to use the basics. Once that was done, it has been a good system.
