This computer replaced an old Compaq Presario and has the speed I was lacking. Windows Vista seems similar enough to Windows 2000 and XP to present no problems. For the price, it has the features I need and so consider it a great value.

I puchased this system from Amazon as a follow-up to one bought at CompUSA for use by our daughters.
The hardware specs (1 GB memory, 250 GB HDD, DVD R-RW, etc.) are admirable in a system this price. We didn't need displays or software as we already have all of those items.
The one draw-back for me is the lack of a Windows XP roll-back solution. Windows Vista Home Premium is resource intensive, and real-world memory requirements start at 2 GB for perfomance. If this system offered XP as an option, it would truly be one kickin' little PC.

The hardware has great spec's for the price, but if you have never encountered Vista before, you will be amazed at what a dog this is.

At first I was not pleased with this computer. It took a little time to get used to Vista. However, once I got acquainted with it, I grew to like it, as Vista is really a no brainer and does everything for you, such as updates, while you are on line. Should you wish to do a defragmentation, etc. to clean up your computer, it will also tell you if it is necessary, at that time. So you do not have to bother if it does not feel you need to.
I had a malfunction with the power system and could not get it to turn on, after only 3 months, but HP/COMPAQ CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCELLENT. They immediately sent me a box FEDEX to ship the computer back and I had it back and running in a week! They were extremely efficient so I was very impressed.
The only thing I was not happy with is that because my Scanner was over 8 years old Vista would not recognize it, as told to me on the microsoft website, so I had to purchase a newer one.
Other than that I am most pleased with this computer at an affordable pirce and ~ A Real No Brainer!
