Nice but . . . [Posted on 2008-10-29] We got these seat because we already had an earlier version and we liked them. My only thoughts would be that the straps need to be longer. My girls are average in size but when you put a winter coat on them there is not much extra for the strap. My oldest complains a lot that it is to tight but there is nothing more I can let out.
Absolutely horrible to install [Posted on 2008-11-19] It took 2 of us over an hour to first find where the belts were supposed to go in this car seat, and then to get the latch clips through the right way. The "instructions", if you can even call them that, were horrible and confusing. I mean, how hard can it be, should it be, to attach a baby's car seat into a vehicle?
This is not my first car seat, 2nd, 3rd or even 4th.
When it was *finally* in the vehicle, it was clear it's impossible to secure the &%^$ thing! No matter what we did, the straps could NOT be made tight enough to hold the seat securely.
THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. Whoever designed this car seat should be put in front of a firing squad. This is small CHILDREN you're supposed to be protecting.
would reconsider [Posted on 2008-12-14] I have three of these seats, one for our Jeep, one for our Hundai, and one for grandma. I bought this seat when my daughter was 4 months old because she had outgrown her infant carrier. I liked the concept of having to buy only one more seat. It faces rear, forward, and turns into a belt positioning booster. As my daughter was growing so fast this seemed like a smart financial move and would accomadate the "rear to one year" rule. #1 It is not a good rear facing car seat as it does not recline enough to meet its own leveling device no matter what vehicle we have tried it in. We have had to use a rolled up towel plus a foam car seat positioner to even get close to proper recline. Also when used in rear facing position the seat is very large and i have to sit with my knees in the dash to accommodate its size, even in a 4 door jeep wrangler x. #2 The straps are flimsy and twist easy compared to other models. #3The chest clip is not very sturdy and appears latched together when sometimes it is not (a problem when multiple people care for baby). As soon as she turns 1 (we have used the seat for 6 months now) we are looking to purchase the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1.
Not same seat sold in stores [Posted on 2008-12-15] We ordered this seat after seeing it at walmart and loving it. We just got it today and are very very dissapointed with it. It is no where near as comfortable as the seat sold in stores. The padding is horrible and considering my daughter is supposed to be in this seat for years I am authorizing the return within 30 minutes of receiving it. Dont be fooled! If you viewed it in stores spend the extra [...] bucks to buy it in the store it will be well worth it.
A good car seat but could be better... [Posted on 2008-12-20] First a caveat - I have not used this car seat in the back facing infant position yet. Right now I'm using it for a toddler who is pre-booster seat. That said, the seat was easy to set up and install (I use the latch system) and easy to size adjust. The big problem I have with it is that the recline seems to not work or work only slightly, which causes our toddler to slump over in a very awkward position when asleep with head lolling while he jerks awake as we round a corner. As you can tell, this is a big issue for me. However, it is a good seat in all other ways and if it performs easily in the back facing position, that will be great as I'll need that next year.
