Hurrah !!! [Posted on 2003-10-02] Great game, very good graphics much better than Age of Empires, Civilization and etc. Lots of nations to choose from and a lot of missions that make it fun. Of course playing against a live opponent, instead of AI, is even better!
Very old. [Posted on 2003-10-20] The original build fest game imo, after red alert (which is also an excellent game). Wait for cossacks 2, being released next year. If you must indulge yourself, the online community is still reasonably strong, with many foreign players making up the majority of people there.
There are much better games out there [Posted on 2005-12-16] I recieved this game with several others. The graphics might have been good in 2003, but they are laughable in late 2005.
In all fairness, I can't speak to many of this games features because I only played for about an hour, but I won't be going back to this game any time soon.
Would be a great game but... [Posted on 2006-10-18] I really like this game but it lacks the final touches. The worst problem is there are no single player Campaigns only single missions. The missions are good and there are many of them but they are not progressive so it takes alot away from the game. I also like playing the Ukraine but I think they get riped on technology ability.. If you play missions for the Ukraine you can't build cement walls (as if Ukrainians couldn't figure out how to use cement). It also could be more user friendly on moving your pieces. It's still a good stategy game and beats the hell out of chess. I know the programmers did a lot of research on this game and I think they did a good job but I was disappointed after reading the description especially with new nations added only to find I could only play out of a set of selected battles.
A+ for historical research of various territories -- excellent background.
B for weapons, tools, player function, player options and the A.I..
B for graphics.. Their not phenomenal but for this type of game it's adequate.
F- for single player campaigns (in my opinion the best part).
n/a for online - didn't play. a good game should be good stand alone.
I would give this game 4 stars if single player campaigns were available and 5 stars if there were a few other improvements but it gets 3 stars for being incomplete sorry. But if you like stategy games it's still worth playing.
